The scheduled departure is 1:45pm. Is there a full lunch menu for Sleepers?
No there's not...you have to purchase food from the Lounge area! And the Attendant then turns around and sends the order down to kitchen where it comes back up (if you're ordering something that has to be prepped). I laughed uproariously when I saw this...they can't serve lunch, but many things still have to be prepared in the kitchen??

Have I heard correctly there is a Subway in the NOL station?
Oh my friend - in NOL. a PRIME eating city you are going to plan on SUBWAY - for shame! At least get KFC - isn't the CONO also known as the "Chicken Bone Express"? Or more reasonably, check out what daveyb99 said ;)

I didn't say I was going to eat at Subway - I was just trying to remember if I had heard there is one in the station. I will be in NOL on June 1st and a friend is taking me out to have a NOL style diner, someplace. Don't know where, yet, but we're going to do it up as that will also be my 68th birthday!

yes, there was a subway there last time I was there, last October.

Yes, whoooppie, there is a subway at NOL.

And the tiny Magnolia Room for sleeper passengers. If you arrive early, you might get one of the few seats.

We talked to Customer Relations yesterday, and one of our complaints was the Magnolia Room, compated to Chicago or Philadelphia, they should close it !!!!

I just returned on a round trip on the City of New Orleans on April 11. There is no lunch service on the train. I bought a sandwich and chips at the Subway in the New Orleans station and took it to my roomette. I was going to sit in the Magnolia Room...don't bother...it was very crowded and very few seats.....Even though, I would rather take the train than drive or fly...lunch or no lunch.

Not to downplay the condition of the lounge for sleeper passengers, I daresay more people would be interested in the Subway restaurant at the station. More people would also be able to avail themselves of this service compared to the sleeper lounge.
