They have finally put up cafe car menus, Pacific Parlor Car, and Lake shore Limited 448/449 Boston-Albany menus with their respective routes in the ROUTES section, not the regular dining section.

There are a few different cafe car menu variations:

National (Most Long distance trains)

Northeast

Chicago Hub

Downeaster cafe

Auto Train-Scaled down National Menu

Cardinal-They say its different, but looks to be the normal National menu

Hiawatha/Pere Marquette Snack Cart menu

Heartland Flyer Cafe Menu

Cascades Cafe/Dining

Capitol Corridor/San Joaquin Cafe Menu

Pacific Surfliner Cafe Menu

Also included were the:

Pacific Parlor Car Dining Menu

Lake Shore Limited 448 Dinner/449 Lunch Dining Menus

I may have missed some other menus, but those are the ones I remember.

It's interesting to see how the Lounge/Cafe offerings vary by route and region, as do the prices. Check me if I'm wrong but I've been told when states subsidize routes, they negotiate vending prices as well.

And I did see the notorious California Hummus Kit has now migrated east to the Penny! And a Tuna Kit is listed for the Heartland Flyer  While I personally haven't seen that on board, I probably don't want to cross paths with it, unless maybe I pick one up for the cat on the way home

Not sure if you were actually referring to this car (when you wrote "Yum Yum menus" in the topic), but here's some graffiti I spotted at New Haven in June of this year:

What's a penny? I can remmeber buying gum with it 50 years ago...

I am sorry to see that they've eliminated the duck from the PPC menu. It was absolutely the best duck I've ever had anywhere.

Not the best, but it was good. What did they replace it with?

I swear I spotted that one too...

Can anybody post them~ Amtrak hasn't bothered to yet.

Look under the ROUTE tab on Amtrak.com and click on an individual train. Once that train's page is up, you'll see an option to open the Cafe Menu as a PDF file. And on trains with a Diner, that Menu is available as well.

Thanks Peter. Didn't see the Crescent by any chance? The Downeaster prices make Amtrak look like one arm bandits !!!

Some of the best prices by far are on the Heartland Flyer and I always let my "non-train" friends know it's the best bar going in town. And literally going because I don't know of any other bars around here that take you on into Texas and back home that night

FYI, The Cap is just the dining car menu. A lot of the others are fine, but the Cap is just that.

Is the Heartland Flyer catered by an outside firm besides Aramark?

I'm not sure about the caterer but I've been told the lower menu prices are a stipulation of the state funding. When the train first started in 1999, they actually had vending machines along with the Cafe service, but the state quickly sent the machines packing.

The SP did the same thing with the vending machines when they took the diner off the Sunset. They put a change man in charge of the "buffetcar" and he always wanted a tip for changing dollar bills (you gotta remember this was in the '60's.)

I believe Amtrak got a little bit lazy and put a few un-updated menus (i.e. Heartland Flyer and Hiawatha menus are from 2008). Menus change every 6 or so months, and I can contest to the Hiawatha having things changed on the menu.
