ok... when dd AMTRAK add:
DAG - Dallas Bus Station (Greyhound)
MSQ - Mesquite Bus Station (Greyhound)

Can not find them anywhere in a schedule or when trying to book a reservation.
Exactly what is the need for the Dallas station .. not at the AMTRAK station, so how do you get from A to B.

MSQ I could see, IF it ran to Union Station, but again, nothing listed in schedules.

Comments anyone ?

Weird, Greyhound's Dallas code is DLD. Greyhound Mesquite is served 4x daily in each direction by the Atlanta-Dallas route (ATD-DLD) which runs 5x daily.

Yeah, but it's weird because they mean the same exact location while using different codes. ORD airport is not the same place as CHI train station, but DAG and DLD are the same exact bus terminal.

Planes fly to MCO (Orlando) because the site of the airport used to be McCoy Air Force Base. We could probably start a thread regarding some odd 3-letter airport codes and their derivation (but I won't).

DLD Cannot be Dallas Bus in Amtrak, so they needed to come up with a new code.

DLD = Deland, Florida in Amtrak-ese. So they had to come up with a different code for Dallas Greyhound. Doesn't answer the OP's question about how one actually books an Amtrak ticket to either location. I'm guess it will be for some soon-to-be-announced Thruway connection.

Likely to be a Thruway connection since Greyhound Mesquite has only one route: Atlanta-Dallas, a big gap in the Amtrak system, at least after Meridian.

ORD stood for Orchard Field, a WW II bomber factory was located there. It was at that time considered far from the city of Chicago, the area was annexed into the city in the 50's

Answer to original question is that this is a new Thruway bus from Meridian, Ms to Dallas, Tx. Starts at Meridian Union Station, Jackson (IC station) Intermodal, Vicksburg, Ms, Tyler, Tx, Misquite, Tx and Dallas (Greyhound). Greyhound is 4 blocks from Amtrak in Dallas. This just started a couple of weeks ago.

That's Greyhound-operated, isn't it. If so, that would be an Atlanta-Dallas run. Be warned, Amtrak's booking system isn't integrated with Greyhounds so an Amtrak ticket holder boarding in Meridian could face overbooking even though Greyhound just introduced a new system to suppress their own overbooking woes. And since it's coming from Atlanta, if your train is late, the motorcoach will just drive away.

Greyhound has major hubs in Atlanta and Dallas, both of which are cities with Maintenance Centers. Ironically, they have no MC in New York City or San Francisco anymore.

Interesting. I find no schedules online or printed. Ideas where those are?

At least you've got the schedules now. Greyhound Meridian is the same location as Amtrak Meridian. Greyhound's latest Table 437 doesn't list Amtrak Dallas so you'll have to walk from Greyhound Dallas to Amtrak Dallas. And no guaranteed connection since it's coming from Atlanta.

I already had that schedule .. and this really is about what AMTRAK is going to publish about these new stations. So far, nothing.

You already had that schedule?
The Greyhound site and schedules. But there are 4 buses daily, so which one is it. Who knows.

I want to see how AMTRAK posts this schedule, which they have not that I can find.

And I want to hear how AMTRAK says to get from the Bus to Train in Dallas ...

And that was what the original post was about.

It's called a "self-transfer". These exist at various places throughout the Amtrak system, most notably between the Downeaster Service at Boston North to the NEC at Boston Back Bay. But there are Amtrak-to-Greyhound self-transfers in places like Portland, OR, SLC, and probably elsewhere. So the Dallas self-transfer would not be a new concept.
