I have been trying to get info from both of these sites since yesterday, but neither seem to be functioning properly, at least for me on my iPad. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Some things with the source data changed early Sunday and I know it's impacting transitdocs. I haven't looked at amsnag but that may also be affected. I am helping transitdocs with troubleshooting but I'm not sure when it will get stabilized.

The issue with Amtrak data has been resolved. VIA data remains down as VIA has taken down their site, which was apparently a testing platform. Not sure if/when it'll be restored.

Transitdocs is working for me again, but I haven't been able to get anything to work with AmSnag, which for me is the more useful tool. Isn't the operator of that website a member of AU? If so, please respond, and anyone else who is having problems. I know that a lot of members use AmSnag.

AmSnag worked for me just a moment ago.

And, just to be thorough, i tried to get fares for the return leg of what I just tested, and I got "### Unknown Error page returned! ###" in response. Clearing cookies did not help. Strange.

Thanks for the reply. At least I now know that I am not the only one that is experiencing a problem! I get the same Error message most of the time. Sometimes it will retrieve a few fares. I tried to search one route for 10 days, and only 3 days showed up. Hopefully the site will be fixed soon.

I'm not sure what Amtrak did, but the requested departure date is being interpreted as a blank. So a valid result is not returned.

I'm working on it. But the fact that it sometimes returns the webpage you should see below the "under construction image, sometimes works (as Willem said), and sometimes hangs up and times out doesn't help.

I also just checked AMSNAG and got the Unknown Error message. The site definitely has a problem for whatever reason.

Could the problem be that Amtrak is trying to figure out a way to block AmSnag from mining its site for fare data ? Oops - AmSnag's working fine now! Hooray!!

Would it be possible to explain the technical aspects of the failure and resolution in these break fix discussions? These threads always seem to go from "hmm, not entirely sure what's wrong" to "whew, okay it's magically fixed again". Seems like building a knowledge base of break-fix information would be beneficial for promoting additional utilities by others and to allow future support for current utilities when the original author loses interest.

I am having the technical discussion behind the scenes, so all of us developers are usually aware of the latest developments across systems. I'm not too comfortable with discussing it in public as it's just more ideas for Amtrak to block us.

We developers are also discussing future support.

Due to heavy holiday volume, I am currently running into my server's resource limit. The auto refresh may stall (likely), and the page may hang on loading (less likely). If you encounter any of these issues, close and reopen the page in a new tab (just refreshing will not work).
