So I'm taking the IL Zephyr from CUS to Macomb in a couple of weeks. Since the new Met Lounge opened I've only been in it for morning departures so this will be my first visit for a late afternoon/early evening departure. Are they serving any adult beverages at all in there during the 4-5:30 time frame? I've read on here before that they have wine tastings but that it seems to happen in the midday time, prior to boarding the early afternoon departures of some long distance trains.

Personally I prefer starting my journeys off sitting at a station bar having a beer or two, but I do want to be on the Met Lounge for the business class boarding (I know it's sold out on this train so don't want to board late, like to get my single seat). Wasn't a problem in the old lounge, even though the space wasn't as nice you could at least go out and buy a beer and take it in with you. The new rule about outside food/drinks is so stupid.

And I still think a cash bar would be a perfect addition to all lounges system-wide.

But I digress. So, has anyone seen of they are doing any wine tasting in the late afternoons?

Last time I was in the Metropolitan Lounge, a server was taking drink orders that were filled by a "bar" in the Great Hall. The prices were fairly reasonable.

Indeed, the Met Lounge in CUS DOES have table (chair) bar service! Prices were between $5 and $9 depending on drink complexity, gratuity not included. They were doing a decent push advertising this in September, with little cards all over the place and a drink menu equally ubiquitous.

Don't know about the wine tasting, though. We missed it due to our late arrival into CUS via #6.

When I was there in September you could buy drinks during and after the wine tasting. I didn't partake of the cash bar so I can't speak to the prices.

PS - the new lounge is a huge improvement.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear they are letting you order drinks in there now.
