I think you're right. But I believe there's a project afoot to bring at least a part of it up to a whopping 25 MPH. Class 2?
I wonder why since there is virtually no local traffic on the Maine Central line between Bangor and Mattawamkeag. I understand that there is about one train per month on this line. I believe virtually all through traffic from the ex-CP line south is being routed from Brownville Jct. over the ex-BAR to Northern Maine Jct. Corrections would be welcome.

I recall seeing a large track crew north of Lincoln, Maine in the mid-1990s laying down a lot of ballast. They told me at the time that their goal was to get the track speed up to 20 mph from the then current 10 mph. Evidently they were not successful or the success didn't last.
