Beginning 2/28 NB and 3/1 SB, Amtrak will establish a Thruway bus connection between the Coast Starlight stub train at Sacramento and the Cascades train service at Portland, OR. The bus will provide a guaranteed connection to and from both the Cascades and the Empire Builder at Portland. The bus will make stops for passengers at Redding CA and Medford, Salem and Eugene OR. Checked baggage will be handled.

*** Correcting the dates: the first SB bus will leave Portland 2/29. The first NB bus will leave Sacramento 3/1. The stop at Redding will be a rest stop only. Passengers will not be served at Redding.

Bus 6711 Leave Portland 3:30pm, arrive Sacramento 5:45am

Bus 6714 Leave Sacramento 12:15am, arrive Portland 11:30am

WOW - all night on a bus!

Wow, besides all night on a bus, Think not of the Bathroom facility. but at least you can get there from there.
Aloha
Oh those buses have a restroom. Think half the size of the bathroom in a deluxe bedroom!

and up to 80 people using it, !
Those buses don't hold 80 people, more like 50 to 60. That's still a lot of people though.

Having ridden Greyhound several times in my life overnight, which I do not believe has to be a horrible experience, I'll say that such trips build character! ( I prefer the train or a motel room, thank you. )

Having gone overnight on an ancient MCI Sceniccruiser full of ADHD/special needs campers, I can safely say it can be done, but I surely ain't paying for it.
