Inconsistent Service: A bigger problem than the food?

Blasts are iffy. I always check the sender address before opening. Trash the ones that don't show the same related name to the subject line.

Inconsistent Service: A bigger problem than the food?

A day or so prior to travel yes. But it kind of read to check e-mail in the room at departure. Business cards for all personnel (not just the OBS) should be standard. And be offered to any pax on request. They would include Red Caps, ticket agents or even kitchen staff. There are times you...

Inconsistent Service: A bigger problem than the food?

That's why I'm on the train! No e-mail, phone, text....

    Self-defense (on train)?

At DEN bus service south to Pueblo is operated by Greyhound (regular scheduled route) and does not depart from Union Station. It's a 15 minute 7/10th mile walk (some thru homeless encampments). Northbound to Wyoming is operated by Express Arrow and they do depart from inside Union Station.

    Boeing officially ending 747 production

I remember the billboard photo in all the newspapers back then. Such a shame the "Queen Of The Sky" is relinquishing her throne.

    Small plane discussion

There was a "TTA" Trans-Texas Airways years ago. One of their DC-3's (N18121) still flies today at 83 years old. She flew from Albany, OR to France for the D-Day Memorial a couple of years. I've had the honor of being a flight attendant on her back in the 70's.

    Viewliner Sleeper Bathroom Question

The Ghan is a spectacular train. Even with late night catered BBQ in the middle of the desert for the whole train is great. But the fare of $5999/person is right up there with the "Captain's Suite" on a luxury cruise ship. Not a family cabin on a Disney ship. Way beyond my budget.

    Viewliner Sleeper Bathroom Question

Only time I ever saw a queue for the restroom was my first SL trip in '81-'82 on the Desert Wind (CZ/Pioneer). That was before there was even an upstairs restroom installed in the sleepers. That was after my FTN-CHI roomette (Heritage) on the CONO. As a solo traveler the in-room facility was...

    City of New Orleans routing

WOW! Unbelievable! That is impressive. Also love the time period as it is my birth year. And growing up within a mile or so of your "namesake" SCL/SAL, FEC and ACL in Hialeah, FL. I just discovered that there was a stop about 1/2 mile from my home now on the BNSF Brush Sub at MM 527 at...

    Future of Air Travel

I remember at the transportation exhibition "EXPO '72" (1972) basically what you described. A 2,500 mile underground bore (vacuum sealed) from New York to Los Angeles proposal. Making for a 15 minute trip! Planned to travel approx. 10,000 miles per hour. Even back then I couldn't imagine...
