    Amtrak Derailment Philadelphia (5/12/2015)

Never is not necessarily the right wording. Railroads used to require two people upfront, and if in a curcumstance where the engineer might become unconscious or unable to control the train, there is someone who could more or less have the ability to stop the train.

Amtrak Budget Slashed One Day After Crash

Another slap in the face to America thanks to politics getting in the way of improving the infastructure of this country.

Not at all, because once that can of worms is open it can't be turned back.

    Amtrak Menus

Amtrak tried to do regional cuisine, it was about as successful as it is going to get with the boundaries they are set to work with, and Congress still had a fit about it. Amtrak has zero control over things, plain and simple. They will always continue to have to fight the balance of pleasing...

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

Actually, the Baggare Dorm should be on the Boston section of the LSL, as that section should get far less baggage then the NY section.

I do NOT like sharing toilets.....

The public bathrooms in the sleepers are fine. Most of the attendants keep them all tidy and neat. Cannot say the same for coach, especially towards the end, but that's a different animal. Catching a cold from traveling is pretty common, especially this time of year. You are thrown in from a...

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

Could be many reasons why they decided to change the order. They may have realized that there just wouldn't be sufficient space in the Baggage/Dorms on some of the routes they would probably be placed on (such as a summer/winter Silver train). I know they used Baggage-Dorms on trains in the...

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

The main reason the Viewliners main maintienence base is in Miami is to thaw them out in the winter, plain and simple. I don't understand why they need a specific Viewliner shop in Sunnyside, as there is not hardly any space for one. Money needs not be wasted on a specific facility when that...

    Onboard the Cardinal 51(4)

I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing it to keep short/long haul passengers seperated in some way by putting a certain group in the coach between the sleepers and diner. I'm not familiar with the Cardinal's particulars, though.

    amtrak looks to boost revenue

Why not just have the WiFi cost something so people can buy it if they want, rather than just up the ticket prices and hurt the feeling of a few people?

The tray table rattled too. Forgot that my duct tape could've fixed that up!

    Amtrak wifi improvements

Whether hether or not it is spotty, Wi-Fi is a HUGE selling point. People want it, and they are only hurting themselves by not having it availible to expand.

    Carpeting...Everywhere

Boy when I saw the trucks before getting on I just rolled my eyes. And like I said I'm thankful there was one S-I sleeper on my train. Don't know how many times I got a lap full of sprayed water from the sinks.

    Carpeting...Everywhere

The car I was in last week also had a TIGER sticker on it, so God forbid this car was sitting untouched for a few years collecting dust and/or worse. I mean the Viewliner bedrooms are kind of eh..but at least there is a 80/20 of plastic to carpet.

    Carpeting...Everywhere

So I just have to know who the "genius" was that thought, "Hey, lets use carpet on the walls!" Thank the Lord that the Superliner I sleepers were saved. Unfortunately, the Superliner II sleepers and 95% of the full dining cars face the ugly mess. It is just sad when you put the two types of...
