Amtrak Dining and Cafe service 2023 H2

The linked file contained three menus, labeled C1, C2, and C3. I've only taken Acela First Class once, so I don't know how the rotation system works. Since the article talks about a rotation every three weeks, it could be that the first week they use menu C1, the second week C2, the third C3...

    Amtrak to the Beach

Speaking of the Gulf coast, it looks like the stations at Bay Saint Louis, Gulfport, and Biloxi will be quite close to the beach, with the Pascagoula station a little farther inland. (This being part of the reason why hurricane Katrina hit the line so hard.)

    Amtrak to the Beach

The fence, at least, is easy to explain. Looking at Google maps I see that the main Brightline station building is on the west side of 2nd Ave, with a bridge across the avenue and one of the tracks to the island platform. Then there are a platform track and a through track, and then the...

    Amtrak to the Beach

On the east coast, Amtrak mostly runs inland, with the other exception being Connecticut. But the Connecticut beaches are on Long Island Sound, and not generally as good as Atlantic Ocean beaches. Bridgeport station is about a mile from a beach. You could take a subway from New York Penn...

Discussion of NJTransit service expansion like MidTown Direct (MTD)

NJ Transit has a slick 10-year strategic plan document from 2020 here. It's very high-level, and the only extension of passenger rail routes that I see mentioned is actually extending the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail into Bergen County. I don't see mention of the work on the Lackawanna cutoff...

Discussion of NJTransit service expansion like MidTown Direct (MTD)

There are periodic rail planning reports that mention traffic originating or terminating at each station, but not the full N by N traffic matrix, so it's hard to tell if they use that data, or even if they can reliably gather it. If people make connections it may be hard to identify them...

    Pennsylvanian (Coach vs Business Class)?

It says "departure", and I'm pretty sure it means boarding station departure. Otherwise, it would be almost impossible to use on the Palmetto northbound from D.C., which I think I have done.

    New route in Northern California

It is planned to connect with the "Valley Rail" extension of the Altamont Corridor Express, which will itself have stops at Natomas, Old North Sacramento, Midtown, and City College. These are all on a line somewhat to the east of the existing Amtrak station, so you'd need to use the Sacramento...

Honolulu’s rail system will start operations June 30, 2023

After 7pm the evening rush should be over, and you can take The Bus with less chance of being stuck in traffic.

Albuquerque Hotel— Shuttle to Amtrak Station?

Depending on how the hotel-airport shuttle operates, you might be able to get a train station pickup just by asking for it. My last air flight, I had call for the hotel to send out a shuttle after I picked up my checked luggage anyway. A pickup from the train station shouldn't have been any...

Amtrak long term service cancellations and restorations (2022-2023H1)

I don't know what gives with 183, but you should also consider the Palmetto or the Carolinian.

    Brightline & Florida Cruise traffic

Does the Metromover have rails? How many? What I find on Google is confusing.

Selecting seats in Business Class for Northeast Regional trains?

No problem, I agree with you there. Overall, the right side is the better choice.

Selecting seats in Business Class for Northeast Regional trains?

As someone who grew up near Princeton Junction, the TRENTON MAKES sign always let me know I was getting near home, coming from DC, Baltimore, or Philly.

Selecting seats in Business Class for Northeast Regional trains?

On the segment between Washington and New York, there isn't much difference in the views between the left and the right sides. I'd say the right side is marginally better, with a little more of the Chesapeake shoreline, and the view of the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia just north of the...
