    Crescent:Why Two locomotives?

True, but from Amtrak's perspective, why pay for an extra 2000 gallons of fuel at every refuel when you don't have too.

    Crescent:Why Two locomotives?

In time it may go to one unit. I have noticed the Cap Ltd. is now using one unit like the Texas Eagle both having 7 car Superliner consists.

#21 of 9/04 Running 9+Hours Late in Texas

There are extra cars in SAT for this situation. 21 went through Sandy railcam with UP unit on front. Locomotive issues............Shocking.

San Antonio -Sunset Limited & Texas Eagle Normal Operation

The two unit 14 car train just passed Sandy railcam heading back north as 22. I am getting confused is this the added SL consist or the TE consist that got stuck behind a down tree?

San Antonio -Sunset Limited & Texas Eagle Normal Operation

Today's 21 had a second unit, deadheading. To where who knows. (FTW or SAT)

San Antonio -Sunset Limited & Texas Eagle Normal Operation

21 went though Big Sandy at 1300 hours with fourteen cars. Guess 22 had a problem and is being told back less its engine. Don't know how he can make 79 mph with one unit even in flat east Texas. No need to take 22's cars to SAT, leave them at FTW?

RFP issued for Amfleet I replacement

I know Stadler/Cruise cars are rated for at least 79mph running, but they do not operate at that speed. The Superliners were beautifully engineered to have a low CG. Send the Stadler cars on the CONO on some bad CN track at 79 mph then get back to me.

    Amtrak Line Plans FY20-25 Released

"8) Superliner replacement is on hold for the time being pending a study on whether replacing or rebuilding the Supers is the most cost-effective option as well as any NN changes post-reauthorization. AMF II replacement is also on hold pending AMF I replacement choice and if the AMF I...

RFP issued for Amfleet I replacement

I get what you are saying about asking people who actually operate the equipment for their feedback. But this is not a new novel idea, and has been proven in Europe. European trainsets are good enough for Acela, why not Regioinal?

    Sumitomo/Siemens Contract for 137 Cars (former bi-levels)

Stop with the branding doesn't matter bit. Airlines, freight railroads, trucking companies spend millions getting their livery correct and noticeable. If branding did not matter, then trains would be painted black with white lettering. The fact some bureaucrat in charge of tax payer money...
