NYT: How the Amtrak Dining Car Could Heal the Nation

Ive reviewed our travel itineraries for that time and it appears that JoeG and I were traveling during that period. I guessing it was us since we tell everyone about our Amtrak travel and food experiences at different destinations.

    Updates on Chicago Boarding?

I guess after a few of us following the instructions given to us in the Metropolitan lounge to proceed to track XX told the intervening gate dragons to go pound sand they are only giving gate letters for boarding now. The gate dragons did not care the we all had our tickets marked with asterisks...

Amtrak can't ever seem to get their on line reservation system rig

Most of the Michigan routes only run Superliners during the winter. The exception is the Pete Marquette that usually runs Superliners year around unless there is an equipment shortage. Last year they were gone for a period of time which was unusual. I rode the Pete Marquette last Wednesday and...

CZ late into Chicago--stay in sleeper

I experienced how the procedure works returning from the Gathering last year. When we arrived at CUS we were directed to the old Metropolitan lounge. Once there we were all provided with a pretty nice box lunch and soda from a local deli. While we were eating, customer service folks were going...

I went through the missed connection process last night so here's an update on the accommodations. On arrival we were herded into the old metropolitan lounge where we picked up a box lunch and a sofa. While we were eating they sorted out where everyone was to go. It appears the coach passengers...

Suggestions for short Amtrak ride out of CHI today afternoon!

Take the Hiawatha to Glenview and back, having a nice beverage at Grandpa's during your short wait there. That used to be a great points run.

Anniversary Trip ending in a surprise

I would spend an additional night in NOL and possibly pop the question while dining at Commanders Palace. I bet if you contacted them during your planning process they would go out of their way to make it a memorable evening for both of you!
