Nostalgic and Historic Amtrak Stations Still Used Today

I'll mention the Jackson, MS station that Amtrak shares with Greyhound. It was redone 10-20 years ago and looks really nice both outside and inside.

    Sleeper Pricing?

Thanks for all the feedback. It's nothing more than an idea right now. I have multiple trips in my past (including a 7,000 mile circle throughout the west) but she hasn't done anything more than a day trip from Jackson to New Orleans. Theoretically, we would take CoNo from Jackson to Chicago...

    Sleeper Pricing?

We would prefer bedroom, but if it saves a lot, a roomette would be fine. We are pretty open about going whenever. It would be post pandemic when things (hopefully) get back to a daily service. We definitely want to go during a dead period during the year, whenever that may be.

    Sleeper Pricing?

We have started looking at taking a trip on board Amtrak for our honeymoon post covid. I started looking at prices today for sleepers and was shocked to see how expensive they are. Is this normal, paying $2,000+? I haven't checked prices since my last trip about 5 years ago, but I don't remember...

    My Amtrak Journey

I used the chainsmokers' remix of Fenech Soler. I got the idea from a gopro video the thunderbirds put together awhile back.

    My Amtrak Journey

Mods, feel free to move this to the video forum if needed, I just wanted to share this in a place where the most people could see and get excited about train travel. So almost 4 (FOUR!) years ago, my brother and I took an Amtrak trip around the country as we celebrated him graduating high...

    Crescent day trip?

I live in Columbus, MS and Tuscaloosa isn't that far from me. I've ridden the CONO many times, but have never ridden the crescent. While I have a trip to New Orleans coming up in March, I was wondering if there was a quick day trip within the Crescent I could do before then. I don't really care...

    New Orleans - March 2017

Hey everyone, it has been awhile since I have posted. During Spring Break of next year, I am hoping to take Amtrak from Tuscaloosa to New Orleans to visit the WWII museum and other places around the city. It would be me and 3 others, all still in college, so that's why it is during spring...

    Points Redemption 2 Zone

Right now, I have 5 trip options planned out, and based on prices and other things, I'll get it narrowed down. They are all some combination of CONO, EB, CS, CZ, SC, SL, Crescent, and CL. I know I will be looking for hotels in some cities due to a layover or connecting times too close for...

    Points Redemption 2 Zone

Just got off the phone with them. Their answer? Of course you can take the longer route, it'll just add a day. No problem since I want to be on the train! And then once I get in Seattle, I can let my Rail Pass kick in and finish my journey! Greatly looking forward to this trip as my graduation...

    Points Redemption 2 Zone

Jim, you've been a lot of help in planning for this trip, so I want to say thank you. I'm wanting to take this trip in January, so hopefully that'll be far enough in advance. I'll give AGR a call and see what they have to say.

    Points Redemption 2 Zone

If I wanted to redeem points for a roomette from Jackson, MS to Seattle using two zones, would I be able to go CONO-CZ-CS? Or would I have to take the more direct route of CONO-EB?

    July 1st Service Change Recap

Now that my trip is just about finished (a little ways outside Longview) I'll post my opinion on the dining service from two different trains. On the City of New Orleans, I had the jambalaya for dinner, and it couldn't have been anything more than food out of a can. Very little rice included...

    Overly detailed explanation by Conductor?

Currently on Texas Eagle and was on City of New Orleans yesterday. Both trains did the same thing and it was appreciated.
