Plans are to have the system between Rancho Cucamonga and Las Vegas to be open by the 2028 LA Summer Olympics.
But could Seimens do such a big order that is highly customized? The Venture cars were modified off-the-shelf European cars designed to American standards. The Amtrak LD replacement order is so specific and demands such a high quantity of cars that Semines would probably have to lease or build a...
The cafe area should take up the whole area of the second floor with the same booth seating as the dining car. To justify the reduced revenue seating they could use half of the booth seating in cafe for increased dining service which could result in increased revenue if more coach passengers...
I noticed that the seat cushion are not going to be used when the berths are made. Hopefully amtrak gets thicker mattresses for the bottom berths. I also noticed that there is going to be displays at every entrance area and at ends of hallways showing information about train status...
At the end of the article, It looks like Dreamstar is interested in doing an Auto train and I also noticed that they were talking about phases of service and rolling stock for the future of the company.
In the article from Train magazine, Dreamstar said that they are negotiating with Caltrans to use the downtown station. Dreamstar wants the train to be "Downtown to Downtown."
They could go down the route of designing dome cars for the replacement of Amfleets and Viewliners. I think Amtrak is dead set on the design of the new bi-level cars and even if contractors provide a option of dome cars for bi-level cars Amtrak would probably reject it because of cost.
Most likely the concept designs in the RFP documents were in color and in high detail but when Paniolo Man requested they didn't give a direct copy of the documents only a poorly scanned version. It could be that Amtrak didn't want those designs to be public because it's only a concept and the...
There is a concept design of the layout of the club bedroom but the contrast was blown out. There is enough to see what the layout could be. It looks like when you enter the room you have a small vanity with a sink on one side and the shower on the other side. They could have the vanity layout...
I found a concept design for the coach car structure. This is going to be used for most coaches(except the end coach) , solo sleeper car, dinner, and the first class lounge. There are more concept designs but they are blown out by contrast.
I'm reading the interiors section and it's talking about putting 7"-9" screens in each room for controls, trip information, and entertainment. Also saw that Amtrak is requiring contractors to have RFID locks on all passenger rooms.
