I wonder if renovations will entice tenants. There are plenty of vacancies throughout the city. What will the offer that will make someone choose the station over a newer building?
That's what the current operating calls for as well.
While they are adding additional frequencies, they are not adding any additional sets . This is what made me say:

NEW BUFFALO, Mich. - Amtrak reports that at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, a train struck a vehicle and derailed in New Buffalo.
Officials say a Wolverine Train 355, traveling from Pontiac, Michigan, to Chicago...
The current ACELAs won't have time to rust, as they may still be in service.
Did you look at some of the turns that may exist if they get their way?
That's the thing. You don't have that many crews qualified to GCT and some of the remaining people are on different routes., where other people also my have lost their qualification.
You'd need Metro-North pilots until you can familiarize the Amtrak crews with the territory.
Who says it "works?" Does it "work" or do is it merely "accepted?" What are the regulations involved that may be an issue over here? In either event case, just because some other country or state does something one way, doesn't necessarily mean it is the best option or route for another area...

Due to safety concerns stemming from structure issues of a non-Amtrak, privately owned building above the Empire...
LIRRs current diesel fleet can't fit into Grand Central either, which is why I said "most places." Additionally, if you think about it, diesels routinely operate into and out of NYP at this point. So, running an ALP-45 in diesel through NYP and into LIRR, would not be something to summarily...
I still think the solution to Manhattan's woes must include a robust ferry system. While operationally, I can easily dismiss a lot of Amtrak25's concerns with a well placed ALP-45, which can currently operate most places on Amtrak, NJT, LIRR and MNCRR right now, you cannot ignore these facts...
I like most of West Point's post, but one thing pops into mind when I think about the NEC ridership numbers: The low, late night/early morning fares. It has really made a difference in ridership. In some areas, an Amtrak may cost less than a commuter train between the same points.
You won't see the HHP-8s that far west. You probably won't really see them outside them Northeast. They may operate on the Springfield line, though.
It's moving along.
It is actually an ongoing situation that has deteriorated, so you can count on it being extended.
You can probably ride it, but you may have to pick it up at Croton-Harmon.
That's all well and good, but you'd need Metro-North crews and track space in New Rochelle to accomplish this...
