Saint Marys and Saluda more will emerge next week and follow the usual transportation pattern. This will bring the total number to 11, meaning we are almost halfway through the delivery process.
Yet, we have yet to see one in revenue service. Well, at least they are probably nice and shiny. 🤪
Umm...like they did with the aforementioned Silver Star, which was nicknamed the Silver Starvation? Here is the thread that related to that experiment;
Silver Star has new Café menu and no diner
This "test" lasted until earlier this year. I firmly believe other trains would have followed...
Congress gave them the money to operate through this fiscal year, and they cut down the Silver Service trains already.
There's nothing quite like attacking yourself, is there? No administration required. :mad:
Hopefully, there will be consequences.
Here are your previously listed criteria for a hub:
Based upon your definition, I'm struggling to see why you are considering PHL a hub and ALB a "focus." Especially since ALB is known to terminate/originate the Lake Shore Limited during disruption and fans out in four different directions...
I'm still interested in knowing what makes this problem unique to the flexible dining program?
What makes this different from the Acela meal program and how is it different from the waste generated from items heated up in the cafe cars, prepared in the full-service dining cars, or from the...
I’ll take these both at once since it helps dive into what I was referring to. This
thread refers to the safety and environmental impact of Amtrak’s Flexible Dining concept.
If someone started a general thread about Amtrak’s food service waste or environmental impact, everything you mentioned...
It would seem that PHL doesn't meet your established criteria for a hub. It doesn't have a LD train terminating or originating and barely has maintenance facilities.
I'm wondering how they will justify cutting train now when they were given money specifically to run the trains now. It seems like credibility is going right out of the window.
Perhaps it has something to do with the costs and the congressional mandate. Amtrak's food and beverage choices over the last few years have a lot to do with PRIIA and the FAST act. One of the provisions is to eliminate F&B losses and by Dec 4th, 2020, federal funds are not be used to cover F&B...
I'm not suggesting anything...which is why I didn't start a thread stating" * If you will be 'Flex Dining' your food will be heated in the plastic dish. Turn it over and you will see the designation as '1' in the triangular recycling stamp required by law."
I haven't seen everything heated up...
