    Question about Amtrak 4316's livery

Yes, that would be nice. Perhaps the most widely viewed/known locomotive paint scheme in history.

    Question about Amtrak 4316's livery

Thank you for confirming my research. I find the urban legend of AMTK 4316 painted for Amtrak Day fascinating - this story is now perpetuated by Amtrak itself, in explaining the rationale for the scheme on Siemens Charger locomotive AMTK 301.

    Question about Amtrak 4316's livery

Saturday, train 27 was nearly six hours late departing Spokane. I drove up the Columbia and photographed the Portland section of the Empire Builder in nice afternoon light entering Lyle, Washington on BNSF's Fallbridge Subdivision. A very pleasant surprise was finding AMTK 301, the "Day 1"...

    Amtrak delays

Did your son detrain at Eugene? Train 11 is now getting a daylight trip down the Sacramento River Canyon and over Shasta Lake. It would be hell to be that late, but the scenery is a compensation.

    Missing a stop

The last time I rode the Coast Starlight, a passenger that was supposed to detrain in Klamath Falls made it all the way to Eugene. Egad.

    Amtrak delays

I thought that might be the reason. When I checked the CalFire map, I found that the McKinney fire is over 20 miles away from the UP mainline that the Starlights use. There don't appear to be any fires near the Shasta Route.

    Amtrak delays

The southbound Coast Starlight spent nine hours in my hometown of Klamath Falls last night. It didn't depart until 7:30 this morning, over nine hours down. The comment on Amtrak Alerts said the delay was due to weather related issues. Can anyone in NorCal elaborate? Train 14 was held at...

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

One of the Chargers was on Train 27 Thursday as it came out of the Columbia River Gorge. The train was over seven hours late when I photographed it at Washougal, Washington. Ironically, train 27 came through town at almost the exact same time of day that train 28 usually does.

    Sighting reports?

Is there a place in Amtrak Unlimited for reporting equipment sightings? I am especially interested in hearing if Siemens Charger locomotives are operating on either trains 27/28 or 11/14. Thanks -

Thunderfoamer - I recently received my late mother's 2002 Thunderbird from her estate. When the weather is nice, it is fun to drive the car down to the depot in Vancouver, Washington and watch trains with my daughter. .
