Does anyone know what the current kosher meals are on Amtrak's eastern LD trains? Specifically CONO, Cap Ltd, and Crescent.

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

But at least not until sometime in December, according to the article: "A strike isn’t imminent. The status quo period for BMWED will expire on Nov. 19 and for BRS on Dec. 4, according to the Railway Labor Conference. If the operating craft agreements fail to ratify when the votes are counted on...

Threat of freight RR strike in th US is not over

From the article: The "union said it agreed to delay any strike until five days after Congress reconvenes in mid November to allow time for additional negotiations." So strike is still possible, but not immediately imminent.

Amtrak Cafe service, vending machines etc. discussion

As long as Amtrak's long-distance timekeeping is so unreliable, expecting decent food service for Amtrak passengers to be reliably provided by private vendors in or near Amtrak stations is foolish. Amtrak needs to up the quality and availability of food on its trains ESPECIALLY since passengers...

    Amtrak dining and cafe service

You may consume your choice of any beverage when you're in your bedroom or roomette, but only there. Elsewhere on the train, the only alcoholic beverages allowed are those sold in the train's cafe or dining car.

Connecting from Amtrak to Center City Philadelphia at 30th Street Station

To which I'd add: Take a walk through Reading Terminal Market. Interesting mix of shops and food opportunities (including excellent Amish apple dumplings--ask for milk to pour over it).

    Amtrak features and comfort updates

I too could do without the coffee (though hot water for tea is much appreciated), but would love 😍 to have a local paper from along the route in the morning.

parking at Greenwood, MS (GWD) station?

We'd like to leave a car for a few nights at GWD in November. Amtrak's website says overnight parking is "available." Can anyone confirm this from recent experience? Is it free? Do we need to notify anyone when we're leaving our car? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Family Bedroom "age limit" question

It's nonetheless dishonest to lie about your kids' age to claim a discount.

Downtown Hub for Amtrak in Atlanta proposed

The lack of ANY connections at New Orleans without an overnight stay hampers Amtrak's entire network. More trains/day in all directions would fix that.

    Cancellation Policy

You need to call Amtrak, which is currently still waiving those charges. The online booking system won't do it for you, but an Amtrak agent will. I just did this a few weeks ago for a trip planned for November---needed to cancel a leg I'd already re-booked on a different train.

Missing dinner due to late train

About a decade ago, my dad and I boarded a late westbound EB at East Glacier long after 9PM. Our SCA, the fabulous Gul, said he'd arranged to have dinner available for us in the dining car. We'd already eaten, so we said no thanks. I still wonder how Gul pulled that off.
