Hello,

On December 24 at 12:03, my husband and I are travelling 1st Class on the Acela from NYP to PVD. We will have quite a number of suitcases.
We last used the Acela 1st class service about 5 or 6 years ago - before the new Moynihan Train Hall was built.
On that occasion the Red Cap service was great . When we arrived at Penn Station, we found a Red Cap and the guy escorted us and our luggage to the first class lounge. He then came and collected us in good time and commandeered an escalator to transport us down to the correct track. He then got us onto the train and to our 1st class seats and stored all our luggage for us.

Is that superb service from the Red Caps still available at the Moynihan Train Hall?

Yes red caps are available. If you go to the first class lounge just tell the attendent at the desk that you would like a red cap.

Big thank you to Carl @ the NY Moynihan station! There weren’t any red cap team members available to help us but he still agreed to guide us to the train. He was overloaded with work but still managed to get us to the train on time. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves!

We just recently travelled from Moynihan over the holiday weekend. My wife was having issues with her knee and was having trouble with stairs. There is a red cap station right at the main Amtrak waiting area. He was able to get us on the train 15 minutes ahead of the main boarding (This was on the Maple Leaf, which originates there, so early boarding probably won’t happen on NER or Acelas that run through) and get us to the platform via elevator.
