Somewhat glossy blurb, but no denying the future ambitions of rail freight in India!

Interesting video. Need to be reworked. It kind of looks like there trying to promote the future, but several shots include 3rd world things. Farming by hand, grade crossing protection by person, flagging traffic orders, and moving good by heavy bags. (Hand loaded on floor)

So in recap a mix of image the old and the new.

India is a very mixed country as regards the traditional and the fururistic. I think the film is meant to show how investment in rail infrastructure can benefit all aspects of commerce, benefit the millions who still live directly off the land, as well as more established businesses.
With such a large population, it may not be too helpful to modernise too many aspects of work, as labour costs are reasonable, and putting a lot of people out of work by modernising and mechanisation may lead to social unrest?

Building two new trunk rail routes is not going to change the way people live and do business in the vast country. The film is just showing the reality of the environment within which these investments must fit in. Remember these are just two trunk routes out of over 15, and it will be at least another five years before the construction of these are completed.

These DFC actually off load through freight traffic from 5 major trunk routes allowing for greater growth in passenger traffic on those routes, which are perennially short of slots for the traffic demand placed on them. Two of them allegedly run at 150% of design capacity today. So by the time all this is done they would barely have caught up with demand, and there are plans on the drawing board to add additional tracks on the classic routes beyond the three and four tracks that they have now.
