It's been 20 years since we rode the Cardinal to DC, and we're heading there in Sept. from IND with some friends (each couple occupying a bedroom). Every other LD trip since then has been on Superliners (bedrooms), so my question is about luggage space on the Viewliner Sleeper car. Superliner sleepers have that luggage storage on the lower level; does the Viewliner sleeper have similar space on its one level?

No
I don’t know about the bedrooms but do know that the roomettes have a cubby across from the upper bunk (goes over the hallway) that can hold luggage.

As was said, No they don't.

But on Full Viewliners, with lots of Luggage that doesn't fit in the Rooms, the SCAs store it wherever there's extra Space like the Shower or in an Unoccupied Room .

Viewliner Roomettes he lots more storage Space than Superliner ones.

Someone jump in if I'm mistaken, but Indianapolis to Washington, checked baggage would be available so some of the luggage (things that you absolutely won't need during the train ride) could be checked. The space over the bathrooms on the VL bedroom is not bad.

This is an irritant for me. Too often, I have found the Shower to be used by the SCA as a storage area for trash bags, etc. Just my opinion, of course, but it is an imposition on me to find the SCA in the early morning and ask that the stuff be removed so that I may use the Shower.

Your are, indeed, correct, according to the timetable. There's a luggage icon (indicating checked baggage availability) next to arrival/departure times. Thank you; I hadn't noticed that or even thought about it.

If I don't see the attendant in the vicinity, I just place the obstacles in his room. No one has complained yet.

I just got off the Cardinal from a roomettte. We had two carry on bags and a backpack. Two carry ons went in the ceiling storage (fit with room to spare) and the backpack went under the seat for easy access. No storage issues.

Yes, I ought to have done that on occasion. There was one morning, though, when I arose quite early and wanted to take a shower. The door to his Roomette was closed; he wasn't up yet.
