Viewliner II on the Lake Shore

According to first hand report from an RPA staff member, 4912(12) was a Viewliner II. He was traveling in it.

He posted several photos on Facebook.

Now the question is, was this a plan or a last minute grab anything available thing.

I had heard a week or two ago that the VLIIs would soon be on the LSL, so I'd say it was planned

Saw the post on Instagram. Did they mention whether this was just the NYC section?
If its on the Boston section, I may have to go check it out.

The one shown on FB was the New York section. I believe only the NY section is getting them right now

There was an article on trains website and a few posts that it was nyp section only. I’ve seen no information on which line number will be occupied by the new sleepers.

Clearly 4912 is the New York section. I have no idea if 4911 was a I or a II.

The Boston section is 4920.

Someone posted a video on FB Amtrak Fans of 4812 and mentioned she was in the other NY sleeper (in a way that makes me think its a VLI)

If the Boston section gets a VLII it would rotate onto 65/66/67...

Not in the Boston section at present. Only one car in the NY section for now.

Dang! I am in 4811 in November. I'd have liked a VII.

I think the VLII rotation for 65/66/67 will remain the same as it is now (deadhead via Washington for rotation for servicing). Unlikely that they will move it to a less reliable service from Chicago.
