Philadelphia is famous for Cheese steaks, and Jim's at 4th and South St. makes the very best. View attachment 29012 (forget the 2 "tourist" places). When ordering, you will be asked, "Whiz?". Say yes.
There was also a place in Reading Terminal Market (under the old station which is now a convention center) which was pretty good. Unfortunately I don't remember which vendor it was. The market is a cool place to walk around.

Jim's was not in business when I lived in Philly 50 years ago. There was a place on South Street in the 500 or 600 block where I used to get cheesesteaks for my boss (and myself, too), but that one isn't is business anymore.

I never polluted my Cheesesteaks with "whiz", I don't even think they used that term back then. As I recall, provolone was the standard cheese, and that's how I always had it.
