Hello all 👋,

Hoping everyone is having a great day and if not, I hope it gets better. I will be traveling in a roomette from NYC to Orlando which is an overnight journey (about 11am-11am). I would like to get some perspective on an idea I have to bring my 11mo granddaughter. She is scheduled to fly with her parents but I am mulling over the idea to take her with me. Anyone stayed in a room or roomette with a child under 2? I would love to hear all about it as well as any pros/cons...basically anything

Thank you so much for your feedback! I've decided against it since posting. My granddaughter is super busy and hates laps and sitting-she wants to crawl everywhere (and take steps now) and I think she'd be pretty miserable is such a small space where she cant move freely and touch everything

Excellent idea, best to take her when she's a little older( I took my Grandaughter on a LD trip when she was 5, and now she's 21 and still talks about it and asks when we're going again!😎)

Ditto. My niece and nephew, ordinary suburban American kids, came to visit me at about that age. We took Metro all around DC*, rode Amtrak (or maybe MARC?) between DC and Baltimore, even whooshed up in an elevator to my apartment. All of which were "exotic" and they remember, more than three decades later.

* Yeah, yeah, I told them to look for the fish while the Metro traveled between Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom under the Potomac. If aunts and uncles don't tell tall tales, who will?

I remember seeing a YouTube video once about a young mother who took her toddler with her in an Amtrak roomette (maybe on the Crescent?). The child was about 2 years old, I think, and the mom seemed a bit stressed out by the end of the trip. (The toddler wanted to run and play, and didn't understand why he had to sit still in that tiny room with Mommy.)
