Hi there!

I am very happy to find this forum. I took my first Amtrak trips on the Auto Train last month. Although the ride was too rough for me to sleep, the zero stress travel makes it worth it. I’m looking forward to our next trip.

Welcome to the Amtrak Unlimited forum, a great place for the rail traveler. If this was your first Autotrain trip, I can understand having trouble sleeping. It was like that for us in the beginning and its takes some getting used to. I enjoy a cup of Chamomile tea before retiring, and in some cases take a natural Relaxium pill before bedtime. We are also from NJ and have been riding the rails coast to coast and North - South for about 20 years. We prefer rail as its the most comfortable way for us. to travel

We know you can't help being from Jersey, but Florida seems to attract lots of Jerseyites, so perhaps it might be in your future, especially in the Winter?

Welcome! I was born in NYC, raised in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ, and now live in the Phila. suburbs. This gives me the worse accent you can dream of. We have taken overnight trains to Ft. Lauderdale (7 times), New Orleans, and Phoenix. I woke up a lot on the first trip.

Welcome aboard on AU from an ex-NJite. I lived in Short Hills NJ for 16 years and before that in Monmouth County for 10 years. Moved to Florida 8 years back.

Welcome. The sleeping on board thing was difficult for me at first and its rare that I get a perfect night sleep on board but after a while you generally do get some but it takes getting used to it.
