    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

As I'd suspected and according to this. . . CZ Cut To Denver, CO . . .this service reduction notice for the CZ was posted yesterday at 12:30pm. Had been making checks for missing CZ fares every day and all seemed normal until the day before yesterday. Then yesterday, no CZ service from CHI...

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

Thanx! Finally found a link to this in a post from two weeks ago. . . Amtrak Advisory | Amtrak to Operate on Modified Schedules . . .that was updated yesterday to show no service between DEN and RNO. A quick check with Arrow also showed no service between RNO and EMY. Looks like the CZ is...

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

Could COVID-19 be why there's no CZ service West of Denver for the next 13 days?

CZ has been affected by the virus

. . .West of DEN for the next two weeks??

CZ has been affected by the virus

While using AmSnag searching for fares for the CZ, I noticed there was no service to points West of Denver from Chicago for the next two weeks. Arrow showed those dates as "Cancelled". In addition, no CZ service out of EMY during that period. Q: Problem with Arrow or problem along the route?

CZ has been affected by the virus

AmSnag only returned data beginning 04/11/20 or 04/13/20 when making a 30 day search beginning today for travel from CHI to EMY. Arrow showed "Cancelled" the next two weeks. But AmSnag and Arrow both showed unbroken service from CHI as far as DEN - but no farther West. Snow? Tunnel collapse?

    AmSnag Oddity

Well, don't lose any sleep over it Paul. The important thing is knowing that some days may be missing and if so check with Arrow to see what the missing fares are. That's still much, much easier than making 30 consecutive dummy bookings on Arrow. After discovering this the other day, I made a...

    AmSnag Oddity

FWIW, those making 30 day searches using AmSnag are cautioned that (at the present time for the CZ, SWC and CONO) the search may not include fares for all 30 days. I've noticed as many as 4 days missing but those dates are still bookable using the Amtrak website. Don't know if this occurs with...

Auto train - best time to book for the best rates?

Ah, the old "5 months out" wheeze. Let's hope Covid-19 doesn't have the same longevity. FWIW, as of the present time, low bucket sleepers are available 11 months out ( 01/24/21 through 02/22/21) on 8 of the 14 LD trains having sleepers. If I wanted to book a train during that or any earlier...

Auto train - best time to book for the best rates?

Best way to look for the least expensive fares is this: AmSnag Verson 2.02 It allows you to look at thirty days worth of fares at a time. and as far out as about 335 days, say 11 months. The best time to look is as soon as you know when you want to go. There's really no bad time to look...

    Amtrak axle count discussion

There are two types of simple electrical circuits, series and parallel. The total resistance of a series circuit is the sum of all the individual resistances. This means the total resistance in a series circuit increases as the number of individual resistances increases. This, however, is not...

    AmSnag Oddity

Thanks. If it still compiles change data for a trip and makes it available upon request, then it still has a little usefulness - for me a t least.

    AmSnag Oddity

I suspect the the second link given in Post #4 (. . . AmSnag Verson 2.02 . . .) is nothing more than the latest version of AmSnag. I've simply deleted the first one given as well as one other from a few years ago. However, I'm not sure whether the Fare Watch feature of the x10.mx AmSnag is...
