Would a Presidential "Amtrak One" Actually Work? 🚅

By all means, explain to us how your comments were misconstrued and demonstrate that you understand the true threat to be more than the handful of people arrested and charged for the events of January 6th.

Would a Presidential "Amtrak One" Actually Work? 🚅

And many of those that stoked those flames have seen zero legal repercussions whatsoever and continue to spread forth lies and hatred that sadly make a repeat of something as awful nearly a forgone conclusion. No, no. We're just not going to forget it and move on.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card as a Travel Document

Agreed. I remarked on not feeling a thing when I got my second shot, the nurse commented that between the apparently tiny needle used and the fact that the people doing the sticks are doing them over and over and over and over and over, means that they're getting *really good* at getting them...

Amtrak Mask Mandate - Practical Discussion

They're also about as effective as a screen door on a submarine. There's a reason that they're not an acceptable face cover. In addition to a mask for medical personnel that get a faceful of infected people? Absolutely, that's a completely different kettle of fish.

Metra issues challenge to create battery-powered, zero-emission locomotive

There's a lot of room for batteries in that car body. I'll be very interested in what comes of this.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

Magic? The other issue with multilevel is ADA access through the train. You can't just say "take this product that is inherently inaccessible and make it accessible". By the time you've done that, it isn't a multilevel anymore and you're back to a short bilevel that doesn't have the space...

Comparing a LD Amtrak Coach Fares to Air travel

Indeed. There's a difference between "not expanding" and "strongly against the current offerings" and a lot of people are mistaking the second for the first. Do you have any actual evidence of them being strongly against the current service?

RFP issued for Amfleet I replacement

That's just like, your opinion, man. It says "bidder". That means the bidding is still open.

RFP issued for Amfleet I replacement

That part is obvious. You should pay attention to the small army of people that *have* been paying attention to the bidding process since it began two years ago and internalize the fact that Amtrak has evaluated bids from everyone interested, selected Siemens, and will now negotiate a finalized...

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

Not anymore. This has already happened over the course of the last two years. That phase of the award process is over and Amtrak has made their selection.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

No. The competitive portion of the bidding started in 2019 and is over (as of this press release) with Siemens being selected. From the press release:

Could Siemens Viaggio be the next sleeper car?

I'm not sure about the preoccupation with bi/multilevel cars. Single level fleet wide, no worries about elevators, ramps of any of that such nonsense. Plenty of vertical space for a not-coffin top rack.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

I can't see Amtrak splitting their rolling stock again. After the debacle that was Viewliner production, I can't see that happening again, but a different single-level design fleet wide is my guess.

Why Such High Prices for The Silvers in February 2022?

Congrats, they have reinvented the Slumbercoach. Exactly. The problem is solvable without exotic new equipment by just getting more sleeper cars. More supply = lower prices.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

That's what we've spent the last two pages discussing.

Why Such High Prices for The Silvers in February 2022?

You need to look at availability rates as well. If prices remain high and a large number of rooms are sold, Amtrak's expectation of the market is accurate.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

Trains that run completely under the wire can use an ACS-64 without a locomotive change.

Amtrak Announces Siemens as Preferred Bidder for New Equipment

There's no reason for regional trains that run completely under the wire to use anything than what they're using today.
