    Official Guide 1971

Timetable World has just done its February 2021 release. It includes the final Official Guide before Amtrak started. Click the image to go to the full timetable. The website already has all (I think !) of the Amtrak timetables + around 70 Official Guides from 1868 onwards. Also good...

    Sleeper train revival in Europe

Sleeper trains in Russia cover huge distances, and the roomettes are designed to convert for day use. It is still how people choose to travel for journeys up to 1,500 miles. I travelled 1st Class Murmansk - Moscow, which took two nights and one day, costing about $130 including food. The...

Big release of US and Canadian timetables

You can now find a huge trove of US and Canadian timetables and maps on Timetable World. It has taken a while to establish links with US collectors, and to process the material that was offered. But it has been worth the wait. Here are some of the highlights: Amtrak: Now in its 50th year...

    Official Guide 1923

In the Legacy part of Timetable World we have a 1952 edition, not yet ported to the new platform. I haven't found any pre-War examples. Do you think that means white people had a reserved section, but non-whites could still join the train?

    Official Guide 1923

I haven't found any examples of "for white passengers" so perhaps you can provide an example (a page number)? Timetable World is an archive, and I don't intend suppressing material that is relevant to the way services operated. I did, however, edit out some offensive imagery in an advertisement.

    Official Guide 1923

One of the volunteers helping out at Timetable World has completed indexing the Official Guide 1923. It makes navigating the 1500+ pages so much easier. What I mean by "indexing" is that there are now bookmarks for all the main railroad and steamship companies - about half of the total - to...

Your 1952 map is potentially very useful, so do please contact me via timetableworld.com AT gmail.com. Many of Timetable World best contributors choose to remain hidden behind nicknames, but the integrity of the website requires me to know who is providing material. I hope you'll join us.

Introducing... The Museum of Railway Timetables!

This is great, and I can see why it has taken several years to do. Making maps is very therapeutic, and it is nice to see the 1952 Official Guide on the legacy Timetable World site being put to use. The result should be enormously useful to timetable explorers. There are a number of things to...

Introducing... The Museum of Railway Timetables!

Hi Anthony You've kindly put 40+ years of Amtrak timetables online. The Timetable World website would like to re-publish your material but we'd like to do so after firstly making contact with you and doing so with your agreement. There is a forum thread here about us generally reaching out to...

    Putting historical railroad timetables online

Well, this post has gone pretty well - thank you everyone who has replied (here and via the Timetable World website). Here's a status report: Thanks to @Urban Sky, we will be able to provide great coverage of Canadian timetables. There are some interesting historical railroad maps in the...

Thanks. As a newbie member, the moderators didn't like me contacting you directly! Thanks for your consent - I'll make sure you are credited. It's a great achievement to have scanned so much. Have you done any other Dropboxes ?

    Putting historical railroad timetables online

@Urban Sky is someone I'd really like to make contact with. I found his VIA and CN/CP timetable collection but don't want to republish it without his agreement.

    Putting historical railroad timetables online

The "old" website is still available. Just follow the Legacy menu on the new site and it is exactly how it was. I'd be interested to see what you did with the 1952 Official Guide. Can you share a link? The indexing by railroad took a long time, so the new approach is to crowd-source the...

    Putting historical railroad timetables online

I'm posting here to make contact with websites and private collectors who have already put digital timetables online. timetables.org is one example, with its great collection of Amtrak material, which points people to this forum to make contact. It'd be great to establish partnerships with...
