Safety and environmental issues with Amtrak's Flex Dining concept

Another complainer! Here companies are trying to do something to improve their meals by adding fiber and you complain about it. I will admit they use the NY Daily News to make the straw whereas they used to use the NY Times. But expenses do have to be cut back.

    Long distance considerations

As I said, the original page I saw not more than a week or two ago was on the Amtrak site. It had other info (forgot what) on the page and also listed the kosher meals (no pictures). They were the same meals described in the pictures - beef, chicken and salmon for lunch/dinner and omelet for...

    Long distance considerations

I do apologize and it appears Amtrak has hidden the real page that had the specifics of the kosher meals or I am too dense to find it now. However, I found PDF files that show in more detail the breakfast meal and the lunch dinner choices from amtrakfoodfacts.com. The page I previously saw had...

    Good & Bad News

You are indeed correct and I knew that. I was trying to explain what chili vs chile was and I would never imply that Texans would put beans in when making chili. Heaven forbid. Their reaction would put the green/red chile fans of Hatch to shame. And to keep this discussion in accordance with...

    Good & Bad News

Chilis? Acch! You must be one of those - ugh - TEXANS! Texans make chili. These are chile peppers or "chiles"! They ere not a meat product with beans sometimes mixed in. I've seen people strung up with the Ristras in Hatch for spelling it with an "i" at the end. Oh, the horror! Oh the humanity!

Way to cut down losses on long distance trains

Yeah, but think - fast, clean trains with consistently friendly, helpful hosts and agents, clean restrooms and reliable on-time service. Amtrak keeps asking us to pay extra and doesn't give us any of that. Never mind. My heart couldn't take that. It'd be "it's the big one, Elizabeth"!

First time traveling on train advice/help

Albuquerque? You can't possibly get on the wrong train unless you can't tell a RailRunner commuter train which has red colors and pictures of the RoadRunner and doors that go beep-beep just like the cartoon from a long distance Amtrak train which has Amtrak written on it and has lots of blue as...

First time traveling on train advice/help

If you are going from a station that has redcap service (e.g. Chicago), take advantage of it. For a tip of a few dollars, they will take you right to your car and hand you over to the SCA. Well worth the money.

    Long distance considerations

I'd look at pre-ordering the kosher meals which seem to be much higher quality. I know I will from now on based on current food non-quality.

First time for wife on Amtrak

CLT to RGH is on the no-sleeper Carolinian which goes to NYP or one of the inexpensive short distance Piedmonts which only go between CLT and RGH. The Crescent doesn't go to Raleigh. One possibility might be Charlotte to Atlanta with a night in the big city. Then one can sample a southbound...

    Good & Bad News

When we go to El Paso to visit our hearts in NM where we left them, Amtrak often offers to pay us to go to Deming. I tell them I'm not that desperate! We've even been to the Duck Race there! That was enough time. We'd have more things to do and more people to meet if we went to El Malpais...

Flexible dining - Requesting a review from a recent rider

It's my home station too but why the "poor" ridership? I've noticed it has decreased due to the lack of baggage handling any more. Also the change in the food has made sleeper passengers like me reduce our use of the station and consider driving to where we can catch a daytime train and spend a...

Flexible dining - Requesting a review from a recent rider

The problem is that the CEOs are not running their business - unless you consider running down their business or running their company out of business or ruining their business to be running it. WE THE TAXPAYERS OWN Amtrak. WE have the right to request our representatives to STOP Amtrak from...

Flexible dining - Requesting a review from a recent rider

Oh stop! The fares are only going up 7%! You think Amtrak can afford butter too? Some people are just SO greedy. You got that wonderful flex dining and all those new room amenities and you still want more? https://www.amtraktrains.com/threads/good-bad-news.77541/ :)

High fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, salt, fat, salt, filler, leached plastic, micro-plastic particles from packaging, soylent green, The Blob, and a little protein all slopped together. COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak Food Service Discussion

They do have kosher meals (that sound MUCH BETTER especially for breakfast) that you have to order 72 hours in advance. https://www.amtrak.com/special-menus-special-dietary-requirements
