Number of Train Sets Used for Each Long Distance Train?

Armchair railroaders that purport to know better than Amtrak on how best to run a railroad amuse me. Thanks for folks like @Thirdrail7 for keeping it real. At the end of the day, you can optimize for 100% efficiency, but we don't live in a 100% efficient world. When things go sideways, you...

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

There is tons of cheap uncrowded land north of central Virginia. What part of the world are you trying to get close to?

NY Times: Anderson out, William Flynn in

That's a bit of a jump to "anti-LD trains". Put all of your funding into half of the trains and you get all the stuff back everyone complains about.

    What were his exact words?

I understand the concerns perfectly and agree with them. They're not proof of an anti-LD agenda. The food comes from Congress. The bus bridge never happened, and instead strengthened the viability of the SWC by getting funds committed to the maintenance of the route. What resources were moved...

I'll take that bet. Name the stakes.

I'm most excited about moving past the discussion of the made up "anti-LD agenda".

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak Food Service Discussion

There were a great many people who booked before the change was announced. If I'm taking a LD train at this point, it's because I have to absolutely to be somewhere else, and I'd be grateful for the ability to get there. Putting my hand out for Amtrak to "compensate me" for serving me...

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak Food Service Discussion

I was speaking narrowly about refunds related to the change in food service that took place on the eastern trains. I'm not aware of any that were provided - why would they be expected for the same thing on a different train?

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak Food Service Discussion

You would probably guess wrongly. You paid for a ticket to get from point A to point B. You were provided meals. Amtrak has delivered what you paid for.

I told you that before you went off and edited your post to add a ton of content that wasn't there a day ago.

This is almost guaranteed to be completely inaccurate.

Richard Anderson replacing Wick Moorman as Amtrak CEO

How would have you accomplished the same task? A handful of angry people on the internet do not make for useable data. The result of which was, what? Objection: Assumes facts not in evidence.

GPS Device for use on Long Distance Trains

Here is my car-based unit in action on my honeymoon in 2010. Was hoping for a trip for our 10th anniversary next week, instead we get plenty of time together. :D

That’s why privately owned roads are so wildly successful in the USA.

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

A good number of people can carry everything they own on their person. With substantial overlap with the group of people without sufficient funds to pay their rent.

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

I'm not sure why you think that your comment is off topic in a thread about Amtrak and COVID-19. And now we've come full circle and I ask you again - why cancel any portion of the route (because as you're no doubt aware, "confining it north of NJ" means it doesn't leave the station)?

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic: Amtrak-related Discussion

What exactly makes it out of context? Are you not talking about changes to service patterns based on COVID-19?
