    New Siemens Charger locomotive

I wouldn't think so either. I would think they'll be painted with the standard Phase V scheme.

    New Siemens Charger locomotive

Well, this is interesting! But I can't tell whether it's the official scheme for the ALC-42's or if it's just a prototype scheme. http://www.highspeed-rail.org/Documents/Annual%20Meetings/2020/Amtrak%20Procurement%20presentation%20NGEC%20%281%29.pdf

    #7(28) hits sprayer tractor

Gee, if he had been farming ever since 1974, who knows what he was thinking as he pulled into the train's path?

    #7(28) hits sprayer tractor

I can imagine what it's like hitting a 30+ ton tractor at 79 MPH! Almost a week after the accident, I'm actually surprised they haven't released the victim's name yet. I would think they'd have released his name by now.

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

I'm a little confused there, because the "Weight On Drivers" is 409,000 lbs. However, the "Total Weight" is 593,710 lbs.

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

Now, I'm trying to calculate the weight of the front trucks, the rear trucks, and the carbody itself. I stumbled across this diagram of the Baldwin Centipede. For a single Centipede, the "weight on the drivers" is 409,000 lbs. The "weight on the drivers" is the weight of the carbody, am I...

    New Siemens Charger locomotive

I wonder why it was sandwiched rather than in the lead? One would think they'd put it in the lead for testing.

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

And on a side note: The overall weight of the Centipede was 593,710 lbs. But how much did the carbody and trucks weigh separately? This diagram might be a little helpful. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/CENTIPEDE/bp-1_E437703b.gif

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

Alrighty. So, for a single Centipede, it provides 102,500 lbs of Starting Tractive Effort @ 25% and 52,800 lbs of Continuous Tractive Effort @ 17.8 MPH. So I can get the physics correct, let's do the calculations of the Tractive Effort for oh say every 5 MPH. 0 - 102,500 lbs 5 - ? 10 - ? 15 -...

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

Okay. So, just to make sure I read you correctly... A DOUBLE set of Centipedes provided 205,000 lbs of Tractive Effort and weighed 593.71 tons?

    Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 "Centipede" Specifications

The Baldwin Centipede was perhaps one of the most unique diesel locomotives ever built, although it suffered mechanical problems and proved to be unsuccessful. The Baldwin Centipede is available in Train Simulator, but the physics are very out of whack. - They weighed 593.71 tons. But was that...

    Scrap or Renumber METX #210?

I told you so! What do you say to that?

    Scrap or Renumber METX #210?

This is what I'm referring to. I may as well mention her name. All over Facebook (especially in the Facebook group "Metra Rail"), Instagram, Twitter, etc. https://instagram.com/baronessann210?igshid=2gbpbqys3cjm

    Scrap or Renumber METX #210?

No, no. There's someone that has this obsession with METX #210. It's a very long story, but let's just say, she preaches that she's in a spiritual marital relationship with it. A lot of railfans are fed up with it. Many are saying #210 needs to be scrapped. I decided not to mention her name on...

    Scrap or Renumber METX #210?

So, as many of you know, someone (I won't mention her name in this thread, but some of you, especially in the Chicago area, may know who it is) is beyond obsessed with Metra Locomotive #210. As many of you may know, Metra #210 is very problematic. But to end this obsession with #210, don't y'all...

The Curious Case of Stobe the Hobo

You're darn right they would've called him in if they caught him.

Trainhoppers just give us railfans a bad name. That's all I can say.

It's being run like an airline, not a railroad.

New dining options (flex dining) effective October 1, 2019

I am fed up with the way Richard Anderson is running Amtrak! He runs it like it's an airline company!
