    The 6 units are ConnDOT , not Metro North. they are part of the Metro North options . The options are LIRR - NYS empire service , and more possible single mode chargers of less horsepower, for MN branch lines and ConnDot Branches and Hartford line.

    not just freight but average locomotive een if ballasted in Europe weighs about 80 Metric ton. compare that to any American Locomotive or like a Genesis at 275 000 Lbs. (125 metric ton) and you find its about equal to Smart vs a F150 pickup truck

    Solar between rails is stupid Idea, it would all have to be taken up every time track needs maintenance, be it ballast dumping or just tamping, rail renewal etc.

    most interlockings and third rail section switches are within a mile of each other, so that 5-minute timer keeps getting reset every time the Locomotive gaps.

    The Dual modes for Empire service are being bought by NY state, not Amtrak As for continuous operation in E mode, guaranteed even if its touted, it will be on as needed bases per operations center, just like current Genesis The third rail has many gaps, for section switches, interlockings etc...
