    Crescent discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

This person flogged a recent trip on the entire length of The Crescent in a roomette. The room and most of the car is in such bad shape. I have avoided the train since Covid. I am glad I did. I would have been very unhappy to pay those high prices for are really beat-up coach. By the way...

    Crescent discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

According to trains.com the dining car will be back on 19/20 beginning 6/1/2024. It will be flex meals. The article really is honest with Amtrak. I was surprised to read half of the lounge car is blocked off for crew usage. I seem to remember reading the same reports here awhile back. Here...

New Gulf Coast service (New Orleans - Mobile and Baton Rouge)

Trains.com has an interesting editorial that is saying Amtrak should cut it's losses and abandon the Gulf Coast project. Amtrak should bail out on proposed Gulf Coast service: Analysis By Bill Stephens | February 16, 2024...

Amtrak Dining and Cafe Service discussion 2024 H1

I want to go from ATL to WAS by train but not until there is a dining car. Everyday I pass the Amtrak station on the interstate and look to see if there is a dining car. Everyday I am disappointed. ☹️

There is a coach car that is heavily graffitied that has been set out on the siding at the Atlanta (Brookwood) station. First time in many years I have seen them set out a car in Atlanta. For that matter, I have never seen an Amtrak car so heavily graffitied. Sorry I don't have a pic.

The Crescent always seems to be in need of a bath. The train seems to never be washed. I see either the 19 or 20 almost everyday and the train sets are dirty. Isn't there a train wash somewhere that the Crescent has access to?

    Crescent discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

Bummer. I have seen several YouTube vids on the VLII accessible bedrooms and was hoping we would get to experience them. We are planning a December weekend in New Orleans, but I am weary about booking Amtrak. For the last few years the train has been terminated so many times in Atlanta, it is...

    Crescent discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

When booking on the Crescent, how do I know if I am on a Viewliner I or II? My husband is in a wheelchair and we would prefer to be on a Viewliner II as the handicap space is updated.

The new schedule is terrible. With the old schedule going north, I would get on in Atlanta at 7:30 or so and get last seating in the diner. The arrival in DC was between 9 and 10 AM which meant the train was truly an overnight train that left a major metro in the evening and arrived in the...

    Crescent discussion

I have taken the Crescent 100+ times mostly between Atlanta and Hattiesburg, MS. For several years I owned businesses in Hattiesburg and Louisiana. I kept a car in Hattiesburg and would take the Crescent to save me having to drive the 6.5 hours (if I did not stop) to Hattiesburg. It was funny...

    Crescent discussion

I saw the 19 today (9/16) in ATL with an extra dorm/baggage car on the rear. Anybody know why? I look everyday as I pass the station on the interstate to see if the dining car has returned. I am always disappointed:(:(.

    Amtrak dining and cafe service

I saw the same today in Atlanta. Everyday I pass the train while going up I-85 and always count the cars/types to see if there is a dining car. I am always disappointed.

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement discussion (2022 - 2024Q1)

My husband is paraplegic and uses a chair. One of my great joys was taking him on the Talgo trains so he could experience first class and the café car. We are already planning an August trip to Orlando to ride the fully accessible Brightline train from Orlando to Miami. I am hoping that as...

    Amtrak dining and cafe service

I live near the Brookwood station in Atlanta. Every time I see the Crescent when I drive by on the interstate, I look for the dining car. I came here to see if there was any news and from what I am reading, it does not look good.

    Crescent H room sold out

Sometimes the attendant on the Crescent will tell you that the H rooms are unavailable south of Atlanta just so they can spread out in there for a few hours. Or, one of the other train crew will take the room.
