I'm surprised some nefarious Amtrak bean counter hasn't dreamt up a system in which each sleeper accommodation simply has an upper and lower limit and what's offered could be any of the whole dollar amounts within that range. Doing so would give a Roomette on the SWC a total of 905 buckets!

FYI, when searching for Bedroom fares on the LSL from BOS to CHI for the 24 Nov thru 31 Dec period your site returned about 22 different fares ranging from $906 to $3148. That $3148 fare was on 21Dec when Amtrak shows sleepers sold out. Some fares are only $2 apart.

Thanks for that input. That makes a total of 8 different Bedroom fares, To match that I need to find 1 more Roomette fare (in addition to the one new one you also found). Be nice if Amtrak added another bucket for a total of 9 - that way there's be a middle bucket again! :rolleyes:

My earliest fare bucket chart was about 9 years ago and it shows a high bucket Bedroom fare on the SWC (or TE) of $135 + $1631 = $1766 which is. . . . . .only up 63% to todays $2880. Back then the total fare for one adult was the sum of the $135 Saver Fare and the $1631 accommodation fare...

Cost pre mile, at least for the EB, depends on the portion of the whole route booked as shown in the right hand column below: Don't know if this sort of thing applies to the NEC or if this eight year old data still applies, but I suspect it does. Here, the ¢ / mile nearly doubles if only 1/5...
