    Videos/Pictures of Combined Zephyr/Pioneer/Desert Wind?

It's a shame Amtrak doesn't bring back the Pioneer/Zephyr/Desert Wind with the split at SLC since it would unlock a lot of unique city pairs that are really tough right now. For Instance trying to go Portland-Denver takes 2 nights now, Salt Lake City-Boise is impossible, Salt Lake City-Las Vegas...

More than one Dining Car in Long Distance Train?

That really would be nice to have a Diner on the SPK-PDX segment through the Columbia Gorge, but I think they'll always keep it running only to Seattle since they don't have any other dining cars to service in PDX (wheras SEA also services the Coast Starlight).

    Amtrak Cascades Service discussion

Good to see extra service between PDX and SEA, although I'm getting tired of seeing the snow related delays on I-90 between Ellensburg and Seattle. Wish Washington would have some more hopeful news on having the Cascades actually cross the Cascades.

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT)

Finally improving the Business Class experience. Glad they're improving them compared to the Amfleets.

Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment

Was the original Acela procurement on time?

    Vancouver,BC - Seattle

It took forever for them to resume the 2nd daily train from YVR to SEA, I don't see them starting a 3rd daily train anytime soon.

Empire Builder derailment at Chicago 5/7/23

Was quite surprised to see 7/27(5) rolling through Spokane at 1:00 in the afternoon yesterday. It was right at the end of the annual bloomsday run and I was optimistic to think that WDOT or Amtrak was running some sort of special to/from Seattle at the end of the race. Unfortunately it was just...

    Long distance survey

I mean they have regular rooms at ridiculous prices right now, wouldn't complain about luxury rooms.

    Denver from MSP

Something also worth considering is making the 5 hour drive from Minneapolis to Milwaukee and catching one of the morning trains from Milwaukee to Chicago to avoid the overnight in Chicago.

    Acela Cart Service (2023)

There was a period in the 90s when they ran Metroliners to Boston with only 4 cars IIRC and had an electric + diesel locomotive on the train so they didn't have to do an engine change at NHV.

    No checked baggage - 66 and 67

If I can check a bag on a CRJ-200 puddle jumper operating into BOS, Amtrak should be able to let me check my bags on a long distance train.

LAX to NYC via Seattle or Portland

Oh wow, never realized they had detoured the Starlight via the Gorge. Guessing it ran via Bend, OR?

LAX to NYC via Seattle or Portland

And there's a great Embassy Suites right next door to King Street Station in Seattle. Personally, I would do the connection in Portland to catch the scenery on the Portland leg of the Empire Builder, which in my option is the 2nd most spectacular stretch of track in the system, 2nd only to the...

    Empire Builder discussion

Eastern Washington resident here located about 20 minutes from the Amtrak depot in Pasco. I'd be the first one on an inaugural Pasco-Spokane or Pasco-Seattle route. The problem is lack of awareness of train service out here, most people don't know we have a train to/from Portland but every time...

    Modifying/canceling a reservation

Beyond me why they don't use the same system being used to pick seats on the Acela, which doesn't require repricing the fare.

Amtrak Cascades expansion to new corridors

And if you would really like to dream, it would run southeast from Portland to Pasco and Boise, Idaho.

Amtrak Cascades expansion to new corridors

This is going to be the biggest selling point. I can't count how many times they close I-90 through Snoqualmie pass and advise for people to put snow tires on. The only reliable method of transportation in the Winter is flying, which obviously comes with lots of obstacles.

Amtrak Cascades expansion to new corridors

As a resident of the Tri-Cities (Pasco/Kennewick/Richaland), this can't come fast enough and I've been writing letters in to my state legislators to encourage expansion of the Cascades service east of the Seattle/Portland corridor, however I'm not holding my breath. Very few people here even...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I think this is a big change for the lounge passes. Previously the lounge pass was just for signing up for the card, it appears now that the card will get a lounge pass on every anniversary, a big upgrade given the new lounge at NYP.
