I have been on the Capitol Limited between Washington DC and Chicago many times, This weekend, I am riding for the first time between Chicago and DC. I presume I will get dinner leaving Chicago and breakfast outside of Pittsburgh. Do they offer a lunch menu before we get into DC?

Does anybody know how to look at ridership at Chicago Union Station and see how many passengers start/end their trips there vs. connect from other Amtrak trains? I would be very curious to see the percentages.

Does anybody know why they took the Superliners off the Pere Marquette? I have heard everything from they cost too much money to Amtrak doesn't have the cars due to derailments. The latter seems strange because they had a Superliner Snack Coach rebuilt with a business class section for this train.

I was in Chicago on Tuesday, and noticed 5 heritage diners in the yard. Chicago has only one train with heritage diners, the Lake Shore Limited, so I was amazed to see 5 diners. My guess is they are going to Beech Grove for storage? The car numbers were 8551, 8552, 8504, 8558 and 8502.
