I can see (name of train) from my window/porch/etc.

Living in Chicago's Bridgeport Neighborhood I get to see plenty of Amtrak trains on the daily (as well as Metra and Freight) Just to count them off, there's the Lake Shore Limited, The Capitol Limited, The Cardinal, The Wolverine, The Blue Water, and The Pere Marquette. It's pretty darn awesome

    Cafe Car Food

Here (https://www.amtrak.com/cafe-car) you'll find all of Amtrak's cafe car menus for the whole system. From a quick look you could make the argument that the Northeast Corridor has the best selection.

    Understanding the Pere Marquette

Hello, Holland Michigan native here! Prior to 2015 the Pere Marquette had more daylight hours, and had quite a bit better schedule even before that (http://www.cwrr.com/Amtrak/mw_grand.html). However, I recall the Pere Marquette was having trouble with freight train interference on both CSX...

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2012-2024)

It's a little far, but there's not much room to expand. You could also say that Metra's Western Ave shops are far from Union Station, but those shops are also much larger than what Brighton Park is.

If all that's there is some MOW equipment then I think those shops are a prime location for a maintenance facility, albeit with some upgrading.

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2012-2024)

I disagree, to me the pluses outweigh the minuses. But I also don't own a car and I love winter. But to get back to topic I think having facilities here make more sense. Back in the 70s when Amtrak bought the Turboliners they built a facility in the Brighton Park neighborhood in Chicago...

As a Chicago resident myself, you've got my attention. Personally I love this city and only see companies moving to the downtown loop, not away. Unsure of what your point is? As far as I can tell, Chicago has more activities to offer than any of the cities you suggested.

Saw the Pere Marquette leaving Chicago this evening equipped with Amfleet and Horizon cars.

    Former Wisconsin Talgos

I believe the factory is still around, but may be idle at the moment. I know that they refurbished LA subway cars a couple years ago https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/blog/real_estate/2016/09/talgo-will-return-to-milwaukee-to-refurbish-trains.html

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not mad by that, I just wanted to have it clarified. Siemens seems to be much better at delivering on time than Nippon sharyo

So based on the most recent report it looks like about a year and a half until these are in service? And that's the soonest?

    Former Wisconsin Talgos

The news WI governor seems interested in improving Hiawatha service (https://www.wpr.org/evers-budget-includes-45m-expand-rail-service-between-milwaukee-chicago) Anybody think there's a chance of them buying back the Talgo sets that were meant for this?

    Pere Marquette changes

    Revised Wolverine schedule starting 1/22/18

I second GrandRiver's post. I just purchased a Pere Marquette ticket and along with it came a message that CSX has increased speed on the line, meaning a new schedule for 2/18. Anyone have anything to comment?
