Dreamstar overnight train between San Francisco and Los Angeles?

They said something like passengers' cars would "be waiting for them" when they got off the train. Adding auto carriers wouldn't accomplish that. They might be looking at trucking the cars, since a truck running down I-5 should easily be able to beat the train (unless there's Tule fog or a...

SEPTA plans to scrap Key Card fare collection to smartphone system

It was just a lawyer talking about the suit. It appeared to be some people complaining that they were being inconvenienced by being forced to use cards.

    Chicago Union Station discussion

Last summer, despite Canal St. being closed, there were 2 entrances with elevators still accessible via sidewalks running a short ways along Canal: one from Adams St. on the north, and the other from Jackson Blvd. on the south. Are those 2 entrances still open? I remember them being on...

But the previously wrapped cars still have the windows covered, right?

Brightline Trains Florida discussion 2024 Q1

No specifics, I've just noticed a few posts on Facebook about issues with reaching customer service or having them resolve an issue.

    Chicago Union Station discussion

The website only mentions Business Class passengers buying a day pass for $35, and I think I remember some people posting that they were turned away at the entrance a few months ago. The verbiage saying "all passengers" could buy a day pass at Chicago was removed from the web page sometime...

Brightline Trains Florida discussion 2024 Q1

I dunno about the customer service part. I've seen a number complaints about Brightline customer service being hard to reach and unhelpful. They seem to be following the "do everything online" model.

SEPTA plans to scrap Key Card fare collection to smartphone system

I just saw a YouTube about some people suing the US NPS because they don't accept cash for facility fees (i.e. admission) at some sites. One of the NPS' retorts was that the costs of handling and security risks connected with cash outweigh the network fees paid on card transactions. They also...

    California Zephyr discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

What's the tiny car behind the baggage car? Where was the street running?

Anyone can use a Red Cap, but I don't think that alone will get you lounge access. But I don't know, Red Caps do seem to have special powers. ;)

Two light rails in 2 similar cities, way different success.

Haven't been on it, but I understand San Diego's goes to lots of interesting places, including beaches & Tijuana. Not so much in Silicon Vallley; the line runs mostly through industrial areas.

Coach passengers cannot pay cash for access to the lounges anymore. Business class passengers can. AGR members can purchase a day pass with points.

    Amtrak Midwest new cars accessible?

You don't need to be in a wheelchair to use the lifts, whether the portable station lifts or ones built into the train car. They are available for all passengers who have difficulty with stairs.

Getting to New York Penn Station

I haven't seen it myself, but I've been told there is an accessible path from PATH to the 6th Ave. subway station. From there, you could take the D train uptown to 59th St. (which is accessible), and then the A train downtown to NYP. Of course, dragging 3 bags onto and off of NY subway trains...

Pittsburgh Light Rail Upgrades Kicking Off

It says trolleys will detour on tracks through Allentown while the Mt. Washington tunnel is closed. Is there any regular service on those tracks?
