No, you can't hijack a train. But it seems you can shoot people on them. I didn't say I knew the technical aspects of scanning before boarding. Just that it would ease my mind if the did.

My friend and I just got off the Southwest Chief heading East from Flagstaff. There were 2 Amtrak Police on our train. I was glad to see them. I don't know and didn't care why they rode with us, but it was reassuring to see them.

Thanks for the reply. It might be a rough morning for us. We are suppose to board at 4:30 a.m. ( if the train is on time ). We might just try to stay up most of the night too keep track of the train on my cell, get ready and do the form. We will be able to sleep on the train in our roomettes...

I just did my covid form online for my trip going to Flagstaff. Will I have to do it again for the trip back home? We won't have a laptop with us, or do we do it on our cell phone?

Thanks Cal. We were always afraid to leave our room because we might miss getting the time we wanted to eat. We will ask our room steward when we board. We are just 2 weeks away from the trip and getting excited. 😁

I haven't ridden on Amtrak for a couple years. Do we still have to be in our bedroom to make our dinner time reservation? I know it used to be you could not be in the obsersvation car when they came around to take our time. Thanks for any help. We will be on the Southwest Chief.

Sorry, I was wrong about that. Under discounts, it is Passenger Association. Not rail road workers. The discounts are very hard to miss for new comers. You have to really look hard to find them.

I know it can be very confusing. If you call Amtrak and talk to an agent to book your trip, make sure you tell them if you are a senior, military, or have worked for the rail road. That will give you a discount. My friend and I always call Amtrak to book our trips. It is just easier. They send...

I totally agree about the velcro strips. I take a couple large clippies with me in case mine don't hold up in the roomette. I know they don't weigh much. but it is a bother to have to '' think out of the box '' and take extra things because of things that are not in good shape for the price we...
