I have a trip planned this summer and would love to take a trip on Metra before hopping on my long distance train. Does Metra receive many delays or cancellations, or can I reliably take a trip out of the city and back? The trip i was looking at has me getting back to chicago around 2 hours...

Saw it mentioned in another thread. I know I've seen some pictures/video of it before, but going through Youtube can be hard. Anyone know of any videos/pictures of the combined train? IIRC, didn't it have 15ish superliners and 3+ F40's to help get it through the mountains?

I believe that Amtrak has sold some old superliners to private owner's in the past. How can you see if they are selling any railcars? Is there a website? Also, how much has Amtrak charged for a used superliner in the past?

The last car on the consist appears to be a coach at first sight, but it has a part of it's upper windows blocked out as if it's a diner. Does anyone know what it is?

Apparently today an Acela trainset that broke down and was not able to be repaired was scrapped.

How is the train treated? Is the way it's ran changed because of its overnight run (announcements, lights, etc) Is the cafe still operated the same as well?

This channel posts very detailed videos about transit projects in the LA and SoCal region, and posted on today which included some things on Amtrak. Either way, I think anyone who supports transit, especially those in SoCal, should watch some of his stuff. Even if you're not in SoCal...

On Instagram they are advertising the observation car as one of the highlights on the train.

I know they can travel on corridor services, at least the Surfliner alone. What about long distance?

I have almost a full day in Chicago next month before I have to catch the CONO, and would love to get on the Venture cars. With the Wolverine (select services) now equipped with them, would it be too risky to take a day trip out? If it's not, where do you suggest to stop? I'm thinking taking...
