    "Riding backwards" in a Viewliner

Does anyone mind having to "ride backwards" in a Viewliner? The few times I've had it happen, it hasn't been a big issue, though I'm not sure if it affects bedroom pax differently than roomette occupants.

    Line Numbers/Consist Listings

I will no longer be maintaing this page (6/13/2014). As far as I am aware, these are the current line numbers/equipment requirements. CONO 1999 consist

I used to take 58/59 somewhat frequently CHI-CHM, and I remember the consist being significantly longer than it is today. I've established what the CONO looked like when it was Heritage, and what it looked like when it became Hi-Level/Superliner. I know what it looks like today, shared by the...

    Amtrak + Olympics

With President Obama attending the Olympic Announcement Ceremony (or whatever the hell it's called), it looks like Chicago may get the 2016 Olympics. (I am not pleased about this. Instead of investing long-term in improving CTA services and infrastructure, it seems as though whatever money CTA...

West Coast Metroliner (Why Didn't it Work?)

According to a few of my old timetables, there was once a Los Angeles-San Diego Metroliner. When looking through my timetables to gain a better understanding of how this route evolved, I noticed something: it lasted only a year or two. I wondered how this could have happened, so I looked the...

I'm trying to get a clear history of where the Hi-Levels were assigned by year (or I guess by decade if necessary). Any corrections or additions would be greatly appreciated. What I have so far is: Hi-Level Coaches: Filled in as spares on Superliner I trains until the Superliner IIs arrived...

    Heritage Dorm in Chicago

There's a Heritage Crew Dorm sitting in the Chicago yard. It's in Phase VI paint (complete with the new "wave" logo) and appears to have been recently cleaned. Someone on YouTube got a video of it deadheading on the Hoosier State a while back. Any idea what it's doing in Chicago? Does it...
