Just booked my trip for 11/11 on the TE from AUS-LVW and a bus back the next morning to HOS. :) I am really looking forward to riding this rare mileage :wub: .

I honestly do not think vending machines would be a bad idea depending on where they go. I dont think vending machines could replace diners, that would be a mistake. But, if they replaced the snack bar on the lower level of the lounge car with a set of high end vending machines I would not mind.

So just to check is this going to be the Northbound Eagle on EVERY day between Oct 14th- Nov 22?

Oh wow, any suggestions on how the best way to pull this off coming from HOS? If I could somehow pull this off in one day (or a day and one late departure) I would def. consider it.

Thank you again for making this map. I love it. It is so interesting to see how many heritage RR come close to Amtrak in the NE. It is a little frustrating to see some are literately blocks away from an Amtrak station, but lack a direct connection. :angry: but such is life. It begs another...

I did not see anything in the article that indicated that the Mormons were even remotely interested in blocking this project. This sounds like an attempt to create a headline more than real news.

On the subject of Amtrak in Wyoming I remember their was some talk of a corridor train between Denver and Cheyenne. Was that all in my head? :wacko:

Agreed, I think such a premimum service would do nicely on the "out west" trains like the CZ and the SWC. The reason though I bet they picked the CONO and the LSL is that a shorter trip allows equpiment to be turned and used more often. It also makes it easier to keep food stocked and fresh on...

Everyone would want more train service in their part of the country as aposed to somewhere else. As to what is more important HSR or slow trains, I will say that frequent, rapid, trains that shares a strech of track with a LD train helps the LD train a lot more than it does the regional service.

And just imagine how many corridor trains VIA rail could run if they elimitated the Montreal – Senneterre train and the Montreal – Jonquière train !!!! Heck we can get rid of Jasper – Prince Rupert train too! With all that free equipment maybe we could have up to 10 trains a day on the...

Just throwing this out, has there ever been any talk from Amtrak about using the viewliner option on Superliner trains via the transdorm? I can see how it would be a bad deal passengers but they could use it for the crew and it would free up some regular sleeper space.

It looks like the biggest problem is water in the Hudson tunnels and Penn station. God only knows how long it will take to fix that and replace any electrical systems damaged by the salt water. Does anyone know though why they are not running trains on the northern half of the NEC the same way...
