How many stations have same code as the airport? (like LAX)

There's also the category of stations that share a code with an unrelated major airport, like Pittsfield, MA (PIT; which is the airport code for Pittsburgh) or Framingham, MA (FRA; also used by the airport in Frankfurt).

Capital Limited to Pennsylvanian East - Breakfast??

On weekdays, the Starbucks in the US Steel Building opens at 5:30AM (it's closed on weekends), and it's only a short walk from the Pittsburgh station. This is where I ate breakfast when I did the Capitol Limited to Pennsylvanian eastbound transfer, and it also gives a nice view of downtown...

Jointed Rail on the Empire Builder?

The Buckingham Branch is definitely the roughest piece of track I have ever ridden over on Amtrak. In my experience nothing else even comes close.

    And Now It’s the Passport!

The current US passport also has a railroad-themed picture on at least one page.

Card vs LSL for fall foliage?

It might depend on which way you are going - eastbound, the Cardinal would offer very nice views of the New River Gorge, but I think that the westbound schedule has the train going through that area in the evening. I have taken the eastbound Cardinal about a week later than your planned date...

    Name That Station!

That's the very end of the NEC catenary at Boston South Station (a very nice place to visit indeed). [Well, there's this "end" of it and then there's the bit of catenary that goes to the maintenance shops and dead-ends along I-93]

    The Pennsylvanian Lives!

With regards to coach passengers moving though a revenue sleeping car, this already happens on the Empire Builder anytime that the 807/808 coach is present, since it's the last car on the train and is therefore directly behind the Portland sleeping car.

Amtrak vs. Metra (chicago commuter rail)

For nearly any city pair served by both Amtrak and Metra, Amtrak will likely be faster.

    Name That Station!

Mr. Koala is correct, it's Boston South Station. This was taken just after midnight on a weekday, so the Acelas are presumably awaiting their departures at roughly 5, 6, and 7 AM.

    Name That Station!

    Sorry, not NYP.

    Name That Station!

I am leaving town for a while tomorrow, and since it might be a busy trip and I won't have time to check this thread much, I will leave a very easy photo. Here's three Acelas in the middle of the night. Have at it.

    Name That Station!

I belive that's New London, CT.

    Name That Station!

    Hammond Whiting is correct!

    Name That Station!

As promised, here's an unidentified station. This one should not be too terribly difficult if one knows their post-1971 stations.

    Name That Station!

Certainly! A photo will follow later this evening when I am not away from my photos.

    Name That Station!

It's got Auto Train Corporation locomotives - was then from the period when the Floridian combined with the Louisville Auto Train service?

    Name That Station!

That would leave Morris, MN then, home of the University of Minnesota Morris.
