The BNSF geometry car that went west on #5(13) is heading back east on the end of #6(14). Also, 50th anniversary unit AMTK 161 in Phase I is the leader.

It ended up traveling without a baggage car, so I suspect that was the culprit.

I saw Amtrak #5(13) yesterday evening with a BNSF geometry car on the end.

The newest Phase VII P42, AMTK 138, is making its first run in its new paint leading Amtrak #5(12). The other engine is AMTK 82, which I believe makes for the first time a train is powered solely by Phase VII P42s.

The train set that was delayed by high winds for nearly a day did not arrive in Chicago for enough time to turn it around and send it out as #5 on that day.

As far as I can tell, that was yesterday. Trains have been running today.

354 and 356 were sent eastward today on Amtrak #6(29). Sky Rider posted a video of this California Zephyr at Pinole, California. It was also filmed at Webster by ThatSacRailfan. Looks like the train doesn't have a sightseer lounge.

Sky Rider posted a video of a ferry move today of new Chargers AMTK 356 and 354 out of the factory. The ferry move was a bit different this time as instead of sending two engines, a P42 and a cabbage car were sent instead.

That image is from the first (and so far only) time the California Zephyr was pulled its entire run by Chargers. It was reported here at the time that it looked like that Amfleet car behind the baggage car had Siemens personnel riding it.

AMTK 82 is now on the front of Amtrak #5(18). If it sticks with the train, it should be the first full run of the California Zephyr with a Phase VII unit leading.

For those curious, Michael DeMarco posted a video yesterday that shows the whole process of running the power around the ski train at the Fraser siding.

Second P42 in Phase VII AMTK 82 is the second engine on the westbound California Zephyr that left Chicago today. I caught this Amtrak #5(12) east of Ottumwa, Iowa. With the first Phase VII P42 174 in Denver on the ski train set, I wonder if there will a chance to see both units at the same...

I caught 174 last night making its first trip on the California Zephyr since its repainting. It led Amtrak #5(01) out of Ottumwa, Iowa as the first of three units. I'm glad I got what I could as this morning, it was reported 174 was taken off at Denver for use on the Winter Park Express. Hope...

I saw #5(25) last night running about twenty minutes late east of Ottumwa, Iowa. American View has some bright lights on it.

I guess Chicago had been holding on to a couple of the new Chargers as Amtrak #30(08) took four of them, 353, 352, 351, and 350, eastward. WorldwideRailfan posted a video of this Capitol Limited at Cumberland, Maryland. novanscaler also posted a video of the train arriving in D.C.

Thursday's westbound California Zephyr out of Chicago has the private varnish Hollywood Beach bringing up the end. This car is essentially a dome-less dome car with big windows that happen light up well at night.

I got some shots of my own of #6(03) with AMTK 353 and 352 as the train stopped in Ottumwa, Iowa this afternoon. A bit different this time with the baggage car moved to the back of the train.

I caught the substitute Amtrak #6(28) made by #5(29) turning at Lincoln as the train was running twenty minutes late eastbound out of Ottumwa, Iowa. Looks like they didn't get to use a wye in Lincoln and just ran the engines to the other end of the train.
