    Amtrak website/app issues

Could geographic location have something to do with it? I'm in California and maybe my connection was handled through a different portal/server than yours in Florida.

    Amtrak website/app issues

Just worked fine for me. Login ok and my account displays fine. Windows 10, MS Edge and Chrome both worked ok. The app on my Android device also looks ok. 0815 PDT

    California Zephyr discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

I doubt it. Its been a few years since I've done that and I don't recall breakfast being served.

    Conductor Brad’s last ride

"Train enthusiasts, skiers, travelers, volunteers — they gathered, some unknowingly but most fully aware, for a retirement celebration of Brad Swartzwelter, the conductor of Amtrak’s Winter Park Express."...

    California Zephyr discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

I just watched 5 and 6 pass each other on the Arvada/Big Ten Curve camera while a freight waited patiently in the siding. 6(5) was 21 plus hours late; 5(6) was 6 plus hours late. 6(6) is running in the "green". Heard it was due to extremely high winds (90 mph)!

    Double Days 2024?

How would you get points if you weren't an AGR member? Perhaps it would include an urge to sign up!

Where did all the shopping partners go?

We got the link earlier in this thread but here is some additional info (FWIW). From a post in "Amtrak Fans" this morning on Facebook: "so if you use Amtrak guest rewards and their points for shopping to earn points, be aware that the link has been removed from the AGR website and is being...

Preferred connection time between Long Distance (LD) trains

I would rather have a few hours than an hour or so. Enough time to grab something to eat, etc. That said, I always build in an overnight between connecting trains (Chicago, New Orleans, Seattle, Portland, Emeryville). LA is my "home" station.

Japan railway firm pushes Maglev plan to 2034 or later

"Central Japan Railway Co. said Friday it has given up its plan to launch a new high-speed maglev train between Tokyo and Nagoya in 2027 amid long-running environmental opposition in Shizuoka Prefecture, pushing back the schedule possibly to 2034 or later."...

Where did all the shopping partners go?

Yep. There is no link (that I could find) on Amtrak's page when I'm logged in.

Where did all the shopping partners go?

Good point! It used to be called "Points for Shopping" under ways to earn. I can't find it ether. Retail and Specialty Partners has always been there along with Points for shopping. I can't even find my shopping history and a couple of pending transactions. Hope this is temporary.

    Chicago Union Station discussion

The info about access during this construction project could be better. Within Amtrak's advisory ( https://www.amtrak.com/alert/chicago-union-station-access-impacted-by-street-project.html ) about CHI there is a link to an image which shows access points, etc. More useful than the Chicago Union...

    Planes overhead

I tracked this interesting flight this morning. By the regular pattern, I'd say aircraft N65U was doing an aerial survey (photos, mapping?) over the San Fernando Valley this morning. Altitude 6600 ft, speed 155 kt. N65U is a 1967 Beech 65-A90-1. Multi-engine turbo prop. Nine seats, two engines...

    Planes overhead

I'm now using this site as I am listening to air traffic control on my scanner. I listen to the Burbank area of SOCAL Approach TRACON and airports BUR, VNY and WHP. Interesting to locate aircraft I hear on the scanner.

Advantages/Disadvantages of making reservations using both our AGR Numbers

Even if you are paying for the trip, by providing Pat's number she is earning her own points for the trip. She would earn points for her portion of the basic rail fare (not the accomodation charge). If you don't do that, those points are lost. We each have our own AGR accounts and seperate...
