Ouigo (France) "train removed" over a month in advance?

Got a bit of an oddball question: Looking at Ouigo trains to Nantes in early March, and there's one frequency most weekdays that shows up but is not bookable. The Ouigo website says train removed, and other websites show similarly. Any ideas as to why it's been removed, and is there any...

Wendover Productions on Amtrak's Rail Priority

Wendover Productions released a video today discussing the issues with passenger rail in America - in particular, the issues with Amtrak's supposed track priority on freight rail infrastructure. Nothing particularly new to those of us in the weeds already, but I found it a good primer regardless.

New Amtrak cafe car menus (Aug 2022)

It looks like the new long distance cafe car menu is differently updated as well. There at least seems to be a few more options, and some pricing has went down (although the cheese and cracker tray went up to $6.75.) Looks like there's a bit more variety, though, which will be nice...

How Airlines Quietly Became Banks (Airline Rewards)

I'm posting this in the AGR forum because there's quite a few similarities between how the US airline rewards programs (explained in the video) operate and how AGR operates. It's a fascinating watch and makes me wonder how much revenue AGR brings in each year, particularly from the Bank of...

    Greyhound USA sold to FlixMobility

Big news in the intercity bus world - Greyhound USA is selling their US operations to FlixMobility. Press release from FlixMobility: I'm not super familiar with Flixbus' Europe operations, but I did find their US service comfortable for the trip I took earlier this week. Hopefully they'll...

FlixBus starts Minneapolis - Chicago route

Just saw that FlixBus is operating a new route from Minneapolis to Chicago. Timing is roughly 9 AM - 5 PM in each direction, with Minneapolis -> Chicago running Thursday through Monday and Chicago -> Minneapolis running Friday through Tuesday. Tickets start at $30. Looks like they've expanded...

Big Rail Investments at New York Airports Fall Short on Promises of Connectivity

Interesting article published today on the Airline Weekly website bemoaning the current "airtrain shuttle" situation and pushing for more direct rail-to-air connections. From the article: It's a bit odd that they're comparing the DC Metro, which is urban/suburban rail, to a possible direct...

MSP - CHI second daily train poised to receive MN funding

Funding for the second daily train is in the transportation omnibus in Minnesota. From Minnesota House Session Daily, 6/22/2021: This particular bill is likely to pass - listening into the session there was an attempt to remove the funding but that amendment failed. I believe this is one of...

USA Rail Pass Now Bookable Online - Only $299 through 6/22

It looks like the USA Rail Pass is now available online, with segments being able to be booked online as well instead of needing paper tickets - definitely an improvement! Currently the only pass available seems to be a 10 segment, 30 day pass - normally $499, but on sale for $299 until June 22...

Choice Hotels Discontinuing AGR Points Earnings on Stays

From Flyertalk: No confirmation on whether it'll affect transfers to/from AGR, but it might. If you're wanting to transfer between AGR and Choice Hotels, I'd do so before 4/6/21 just in case they discontinue the option entirely like what happened with Wyndham Hotels.

New Fee from BoA: Cash advance fee for certain PayPal transactions

Wanted to give people a heads-up: We used our Bank of America card to pay a counselor for some services via PayPal. Apparently the way this type of payment processes with Bank of America registers it as a "cash equivalent" transaction, instead of a standard credit card transaction. This results...
