    Sleeper Meals in the Cafe?

Right, but I was talking about handicapped passengers specifically, but yes, everyone can request it delivered to their rooms.

    Sleeper Meals in the Cafe?

If you are disabled and in the handicapped sleeper, you can make arrangements to have your meals either brought to your room or you can arrange to transfer from your car to the cafe car for your meals. It is in their disabled passenger page.

Woman survives fall from moving Amtrak train

When elderly are confused, it is not that they are clueless, they cannot help what they do.

F MINUS for state of Illinois and Lincoln service on 301 for June 15

I am disabled and would not be able to walk the 3 cars up and back to bc. They would have to open the door for me. I would not stand for this nor be able to physically accept this.

No Red Caps for arriving on Sunset Limited in LAX?

Thanks, I will do that, I will make the reservation without needing assistance at the station and then calling to make sure I get assistance in CHI and LAX. I have not taken the TE/SL from CHI to LAX, only the other way and really want to, but I wanted to make sure I would have assistance in LAX.

No Red Caps for arriving on Sunset Limited in LAX?

I was just trying to make my reservations for my January trip through the disabled passenger section of the Amtrak website. When I put in that I needed assistance at the stations, I got a notice that there is no available assistance at LAX for the arrival of the Sunset Limited. Can anyone tell...

    LSL Altitude

How was this thread kidnapped by talking about roads? If it is going to stay that way, it should be moved out of Amtrak Rail Discussion, in my opinion. I look at this thread for information on the LSL route, not the highways and viaducts that have nothing to do with rail. Sorry, I don't mean to...

    LSL Altitude

This is my home train. There is not much height the whole length of the trip from CHI to BOS. You can see mountains beside you through the Berkshires. The route out of Albany heading to Massachusetts is very rough until you cross the border into Mass. But if you are aware of it ahead of time...

    Coast Starlight Breakfast

I transferred this past April in SAC. from the CZ to the CS with a long wait. I felt very safe in the station even after midnight as the CS was 3 hours late. There was an Amtrak Policeman there and made hourly walks around through the station and anyone that was sleeping was asked to show their...

Anyone know what happened to Silvers on 5/31 South of KIS?

As usual, I am late to the party. But I too have to take the LSL for two legs. I am going to claim the Boston Branch of the LSL as it is the only way to travel from WOR.

    adult ordering from children's menu?

I don't usually eat in the diner because of my disabilities, but I know when they announce dinner, they make a point of announcing that the Children's menu is for Children.

Changing trains in Washington DC-coach travel

Oh, sorry for assuming, The red cap come and get those that need wheelchair assistance and you can follow one of them to where you need to go, or you can make sure you have red cap service on your reservation if you need them to take your luggage. They will walk you up and back from the tracks...

Changing trains in Washington DC-coach travel

If they call Amtrak and add station assistance to their reservation, red cap will have to come help them. If they don't want to do this, then mention it to their coach attendant and she/he will make sure red cap is available. AmtrakBlue - I am sure you know, but for others who may not, NYP do...

    Hotel in Portland, OR ?

I have stayed in Portland a couple times since I started that original thread. I stay at the Embassy Suites - Downtown Portland. The price is reasonable and includes a breakfast buffet with an oumlet make to order station. The breakfast is great, the beds are wonderful and comfortable. They also...

    Elderly on Amtrak

I wonder if there was a mistake with the red Cap Cart. I know when there is not room for everyone in a party, that they radio for someone else if they are supposed to be the last cart. I have had to wait what felt like forever with a group of 4 that needed a cart, I was able to get on the cart...

WOR to SAN via Texas Eagle

I am wondering if it is worth purchasing the 4000 points I need to have enough points for a 3 zone trip from WOR to SAN or SAN to WOR, I want to take the TE CHI to LAX as I have not done it that direction and via the SWC on the return trip. My question is, the TE trip shows up on Amtrak.com...

First Trip! Albany NY > Winter Haven FL, Any tips?

I know Ryan, but the OP needs the car seats until when they get to the station, so I just wanted to make sure they realized that they would have to wait a day at the other end for the checked stuff.

SB Starlight to EB Calif Zephyr -- where to transfer?

I was just through SAC in April. The CS was several hours late not picking us up until 3am. I felt very safe as a single older disabled woman walking around the station area. I walked outside to get air and there was no one hanging around. The cross walk is right out in front of the station and...
