Trip guidance from Jackson, MI to Glacier National Park; Empire Builder questions

Having stayed 2 nights at Belton Chalet at West Glacier in 2018 and 1 night at Izaak Walton in 2019 ( when I was not camping in remote campgrounds ) I can personally attest to the enjoyment of my stays at both places. Atmosphere from another era, and good food.

Off the charts adventurous trip on the LIRR!?!?!!?!

Thanks, Jishnu. That information will be filed for future reference. I will be back in New York briefly in early October, but not enough time for that kind of venture.

Off the charts adventurous trip on the LIRR!?!?!!?!

Next time I have spare time when visiting New York.

Off the charts adventurous trip on the LIRR!?!?!!?!

I have just returned from a twelve day trip from my home in Arizona to the east coast, using new United Airlines service from Flagstaff, with two flights per day to Denver. No, I did not take Amtrak to the east coast, as that would have involved too much time and expense. I flew east to...

    LIRR excursion to Montauk

I will be visiting New York City in a few weeks from Arizona. I am figuring on making a one day round trip to Montauk from Penn Station, leaving at 7:49 am, having lunch and strolling around Montauk for 3+ hours and returning to Penn after 6pm. This will be on a Monday. The last time I rode...

    How safe are America's railroads?

Agree with much of what you stated.  The business owner’s remarks were, in my opinion, ill informed and should not have been included.    Nearly all of us drive, and we understand the risks doing that are higher than other forms of transportation.

    How safe are America's railroads?

Just saw it on 60 Minutes.   One could take issue with some of the points regarding PTC, but it was a sobering report and bad publicity for Amtrak.

Is lunch served on 58 leaving New Orleans?

Commanders Palace sounds great.   Dinner on the train is passable, but not so good if you are paying cash.    You won’t miss anything not hAving lunch on the train.  The scenery is pretty interesting leaving New Orleans.

Kansas City Union Station. Amtrak and KC Trolley

Yes, the 10-6 sleeper from New York to Los Angeles.  It was coupled as I recall in front of the transition car.    It was quite a good trip and I then stayed at Little America in Flg.  I am now a resident here, but a native of New Jersey.

Kansas City Union Station. Amtrak and KC Trolley

In 1977 I was on the transcontinental sleeper that was switched at Kansas City enroute from New York to Flagstaff. During the layover I recall having an excellent dinner on top of the hotel st Crown Center.  I also recall my sleeper attendant on the long gone National Limited was Mr. Joseph...

Luggage storage in LA Union Station?

I believe you should be able to leave your bags in the lounge.

Kansas City Union Station. Amtrak and KC Trolley

In 2017 I got off the eastbound Chief in the morning and called an Uber to take me to the Crowne Plaza, which was quite a decent hotel, and so had dinner there one night.  On my return I walked, with luggage, back to Union Station and visited some of Museum and had an excellent dinner in the...

Passport CARD Okay On Maple Leaf?

Last year, using my passport card, I drove from Montana into Alberta and returned from British Columbia with no problems.   Returning, I also presented my Global Entry card for good measure.  The officer scanned them and told me I was good to go!   (.  The approach gates to the Customs station...

    Crescent/CONO/Cardinal June Triangle Trip

Also - if not on a budget and I had splendid dinners recently:   The famous Antoine’s and K Pauls Louisiana Kitchen.   More moderate, old fashioned southern restaurant- Creole House In Canal bear the Marriott.

NJT + SEPTA vs Amtrak To Philly

I too would take Amtrak both ways if you just have one day to visit Philadelphia.  However, Trenton station is not too bad a place and I had a decent lunch there.  Many years ago, under the bad old Penn Centeal days, the previous station station hD been referred to as the Black Hole of Calvcutta.

NJT + SEPTA vs Amtrak To Philly

My understanding is that SEPTA has been that way for years.
