Hi all! In 2014 I rode PDX-CHI-ALB on 28/8 and 48. Both legs were first come first serve for seating - you were given a car and you could sit where you pleased. I did this trip again in 2015 and the LSL portion was also like this, but for the Builder they assigned seats (much to my displeasure)...

The train was running on time - but arrived into Oregon city roughly 2h30m late.

I'm taking the Builder/LSL August 2nd-5th and, although improving, the time keeping for the Empire Builder is still questionable. I am aware that this is a garuenteed connection - but what are we provided if the connection is missed? Which hotel do they usually put you in? Food vounchers? Taxi...

That's why I really loved the schedule last year that required them to have an extra set ready to in Portland and Seattle if this happened. The earlier departure time was nice too. So, did they bus people from PDX/SEA-SPK tonight? And how common is this situation now-a-days? I've seen them run...

Why is that? Is it lasting effects of the two derailments over the past week? If so, how so?

Am I missing something? Empire builder 8/28 (Portland and Seattle sections) are both not showing up on the status map. Did the west bounds get it in really late today? But even if that was the case I ship so see them sitting at King Street Station and Union Station shouldn't I?

ANOTHER one?! My gosh. Everything's all screwed up on the Hi-Line these days. Hopefully everything gets sorted out in the next week or so. There's probably hundreds of unhappy amtrak passengers that have to deal with this mess as well. I'll be one of them if it doesn't get sorted out quickly.

I heard somewhere that Amtrak would be closing their last Guaranteed connection at CHI - EB/LSL. I haven't found this information since then - I'm wondering if anyone has any info on if this is true or not. I'll be doing that connection on August 5th. PDX-ALB.
