A roomette designed for only one person?

Does any one know how a 'slumbercoach room' would compare to a modern Amtrak roomette?

A roomette designed for only one person?

On a non AU forum the discussion of Amtrak roomettes came up and I related my experiences and explained with links about Superliner roomettes. One man insisted that roomettes are designed for only one person, and when I pressed him on it he said he had been in a roomette designed for only one...

    Are You Afraid Of Flying?

I may not be "afraid of flying", as I voted. But all the hassle of going through security, increasing lack of room, diminished services, etc has turned me off on flying. I've made three round trips to/from Albuquerque <-> San Diego in the past several years. I can get there quicker and...

    First Class Meals

I'm referring to personal attacks in THIS thread.

    First Class Meals

Is it possible to leave personal attacks out of the responses?

    First Class Meals

Thank you for the clarification. I thought perhaps there was a class of service with which I was unfamiliar. :)

Any way to get a larger screen? You might put it on YouTube, as has been suggested, and a link here as well.

Unarmed Man shot by Amtrak Police

Typically cops would say, when shooting an unarmed person in the back : "We feared for our life." Well, OK then.

Southwest Chief Train 3 Last July During The Summer Of Breakdowns

Is the first photo in this thread ABQ? Is that a ramp to walk up and into the train car? When I go I always have to step up onto a stool, and I'm a disabled guy with bad legs, using a cane. The Amtrak folk just stand there, watching me, thinking "Hurry up, old man", never hearing my request...

    Time Zones and Phone Clocks

Could the time update via 'data'? My last trip round-trip ABQ~LAX hit the time zone when I was asleep, but time was correct when I woke up.

    Tipping when brought meals

Should you tip when the meal is brought to you, or when the tray is picked up? The one time I had a meal brought to me (dinner) the SCA basically dumped the tray in my lap and disappeared. After eating I put $5 on the tray and then waited over three hours for her to return. I noticed the...

    Amtrak beer run

I'm always amazed at the number of posts where people are concerned about the availability of alcohol for their train trips.

    Rail returning to Phoenix

I think something like the Pacific Surfliner train in California would be most likely.

    BART stalls, Uber steps in

Checked the Uber website for San Francisco. There was one mention of the Bart being down, and a temporary surge pricing of 2.5x. Nothing about any $90 Uber charges. I guess if you typically pay $36 for an Uber ride, the 2.5x surge pricing would be $90.

    BART stalls, Uber steps in

I use Uber frequently and have used them since May of 2015. They charge by the mile or minute if waiting for you.. I'm not familiar with them setting a set price to take you to work. Maybe you got some bad info from an employee of a cab company, no friend of Uber, and always anxious to bad...

    Greyhound Long Distance Service

How do the buses deal with disabled passengers? I'm now 70 years old, walk with a cane, and have trouble with stairs.

    Greyhound Long Distance Service

In 1988 I took Greyhound from San Diego, CA to Portland, Maine because there was a special rate of $50. At that time you could smoke on the bus and the whole time I rode in a cloud of nicotine. I switched buses about six times and hated the whole trip. The five hour layover in NYC mid winter...

    Backpack suggestions

I don't have a particular one in mind but the best backpack I've ever owned was one I got for Christmas years ago. In addition to the compartments similar to what you show, mine had numerous smaller pockets on the exterior. That way I didn't have to dig through the larger compartments to find...
