We are on this out of STL tomorrow. Ill be watching it this evening.
I'm guessing he's watching the train he will actually be boarding tomorrow. But, you're right, we do like to track our trains. This appears to be distinguishing characteristic of Amtrak passengers, or at least some of them, who carefully follow the progress of their presumptive train from days or weeks before travel. I have seldom heard of travelers on other modes or indeed even travelers on other railroads indulging in such practice.

So True ...... I still find it funny when an airline passenger, who just arrived at the airport during a thunderstorm, is shocked their flight is delayed. This appears to be distinguishing characteristic of Amtrak passengers, or at least some of them, who carefully follow the progress of their presumptive train from days or weeks before travel. I have seldom heard of travelers on other modes or indeed even travelers on other railroads indulging in such practice.
Taylor is the UP Crew Base and yard for the New Braunfels to Hearn run. Since most of Austin has single tracking including the Bridge across Lady Bird Lake ( the old MoPac route), Freight and Rock Trains get priority from the Omaha Dispatchers and the Eagles are put onto sidings even when on time into Austin and Taylor! So why the delay? Slow orders? I believe this is dark territory isn't?
